Postgame Hat Trick: Coyotes 4, Wild 3 (OT)

Wild.com's Dan Myers gives three takeaways from the Wild's 4-3 overtime loss against the Arizona Coyotes at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul on Thursday night:

1. Credit the Coyotes for rallying back from three goals down.
Arizona isn't making the postseason this year, and down three goals in the second period, it could have been easy for it to give up, head home and play another night.
Instead, the Coyotes came into one of the NHL's most hostile environments and rattled off four straight goals, including the overtime winner by Clayton Keller with 1:05 remaining in the extra session.
Nick Cousins scored two goals for Arizona and goaltender Antti Raanta was mostly outstanding, making 25 saves, including several grade-As in the second period.
2. Matt Cullen scored a goal you had to rub your eyes to catch.
First, the pass by Matt Dumba. Heckuva a headman effort by him to spring Cullen all alone for a breakaway. The former St. Cloud State Husky went to the backhand and scooped the puck skyward, slipping it just under the crossbar for his fifth goal of the season.
Or did he?

Angle after angle on the replay made it seem like the puck went off the crossbar. Were Cullen, who confidently celebrated like he had been there before, and the referee, who immediately signaled goal, incorrect in their initial rulings?
Nope ... and a look at the overhead provided the proof needed to ensure that it was indeed a good goal. Cullen's shot bounced off the camera inside the net and popped straight out, giving Minnesota a 2-0 lead at 5:54 of the second period.
3. With defenseman Jonas Brodin out 3-4 weeks following surgery on his hand on Wednesday, the Wild will be counting on Mike Reilly and Gustav Olofsson to pick up the slack.

Olofsson, playing on the Wild's second defensive pairing with Matt Dumba, tallied the second assist on Cullen's breakaway goal early in the second.

Reilly did him one better, scoring the Wild's third goal shy of six minutes later, gloving down a deflected puck at the left circle and firing a short-side shot past Raanta for his first goal of the season and first since Feb. 4 of last season against Vancouver.
