The Sharks are back at home tonight to take on the New Jersey Devils in the final interconference game of the season.
Team Teal is coming off a relatively successful road trip, sweeping the Canadian portion of the Pacific Division for six points in the bank during a very close playoff race. The Sharks most recently are coming off a 5-3 victory over the Vancouver Canucks that saw the team win despite facing injury adversity.
Both Melker Karlsson and Marc-Edouard Vlasic left the game in Vancouver early, though both were seen on the ice yesterday at practice. Head coach Peter DeBoer termed them both as game-time decisions, though we should learn more at morning skate.
In addition, Tim Heed was called up from the Barracuda with the news that Joakim Ryan will be out for 6-10 days, while Joel Ward is now off of Injured Reserve. With the injury bug in full effect on the Sharks, it will be interesting to see how the team deals with this adversity.
The Sharks and Devils have met once before this season, a 3-0 win back on October 20. While the Sharks are pretty firmly in the playoff picture at this moment, currently looking ahead towards the Golden Knights with a chance to overtake them, the Devils are holding onto the final Wild Card spot in the East. They are 5 points up on the Florida Panthers, but have played 3 more games; safe to say, they view the two points up for grabs tonight as incredibly valuable.
