Game Day Notes: Sens @ Predators

Some notes on Chabot's on-ice crooning, everything we know about the Sens line-up so far and more before tonight's 8 p.m. start in Nashville.

Chabot's lip sync

If you were at Saturday's game, you may have caught a candid moment on the big screen as DJ Prosper blasted some tunes when the Sens took the ice for the second period. Shoutout to Thomas Chabot, who currently leads all NHL defencemen in points this season with 33, found the strength to perfectly lip sync along with Whitney Houston's I Wanna Dance with Somebody.
"I only know probably one of her songs," Chabot joked. "I came out of the locker room and all I could hear was that song. I just started feeling it but I didn't think any cameras were on me."
The lesson here is that there are always cameras on you...and thank goodness for that or this moment would have vanished into the ether.
If you weren't at the game then you found out about the existence of said video the same way Chabot did: via social media. After some crafty editing and a quick caption, we uploaded the mashup to Twitter and Instagram late on Saturday night and by the next morning it had done it's job.
"When I opened up my phone the next morning I was like 'oh god'," he said. "I didn't know that I got caught."

Chabot was asked about his lip sync debut this morning in Nashville and how he knew all the words to a song that came out 10 years before he was born. The 21-year-old was quick to credit his parents for subliminally exposing him to music from the 80's and early 90's which included the sensational (and fellow Quebecer) Celine Dion.
"She's great. One of the greatest of all-time," said Chabot about Celine. "Growing up when my mom or dad were cleaning the house they'd put that kind of music on and that's probably what got me hooked on it."

Line-up Notes

Not a lot of news to share today as it appears that Sens head coach Guy Boucher still has a few decisions to make. Prior to leaving for their 3-game road trip the Sens recalled Paul Carey and Stefan Elliott from Belleville and it sounds like the latter could make his Senators debut tonight in Nashville.
"There might be," said Boucher about potential line-up changes for tonight. "Right now we have to go back and discuss that maybe Elliott comes in so we might be going 6 defencemen or we might be going with 7."
After being relatively healthy to start the month, the Sens have been hit hard by the injury bug. Matt Duchene, Bobby Ryan, Dylan DeMelo and Christian Jaros all remained in Ottawa for this trip and the coach spoke about how difficult it is to replace key contributors.
"When we lose guys, we don't replace them with exactly what they do or their role or who they are," Boucher said. "What you want is to fill the holes and it's more of a tag team thing because you can't replace high-end players like that."

In Goal

After getting a break on Sunday against Boston, Craig Anderson (12-11-3) will be back between the pipes for the Senators tonight in Nashville. Anderson was brilliant in his most recent start on Saturday against the Penguins turning aside 35 of the 36 shots he faced to earn the decision, halting his 2-game losing stretch.
