At 18:37 of the second period in the Panthers/Red Wings game, the Situation Room initiated a video review to examine if Detroit's Justin Abdelkader deflected the puck into the Florida net with a high stick. Video review determined that Abdelkader's stick was above the height of the crossbar when the puck was deflected into the Florida net. According to Rule 60.5 "An apparent goal scored by an attacking player who strikes the puck with his stick carried above the height of the crossbar of the goal frame shall not be allowed. The determining factor is where the puck makes contact with the stick."The fact that the puck deflected off of Abdelkader's glove after it had made contact with his stick has no bearing on the ruling. No goal Detroit.
Video Review: FLA @ DET - 18:37 of the Second Period
