McDavid extends point streak to 10 games, Oilers top Predators

NASHVILLE --Connor McDavid had a goal and three assists and extended his point streak to 10 games in the Edmonton Oilers' 6-3 win against the Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena on Tuesday.

It was McDavid's third four-point game during the streak, giving him 24 points (10 goals, 14 assists).
Leon Draisaitl had two goals and three assists, and Zach Hyman got his first NHL hat trick and had an assist for the Oilers (17-13-0), who have won three of their past four games. Jack Campbell made 29 saves in his first start since Dec. 1.
"Great game tonight [for Hyman], hounding it and obviously being strong as a bull on it as always, as we all know him, so great game from him," Draisaitl said. "It's great to see him get three goals. He's such a big part of our team, does so many little things well. It's always great to see guys like that get rewarded for their work."
Dante Fabbro scored his first of the season, Roman Josi had two assists, and Kevin Lankinen made 31 saves for the Predators (12-12-3), who have lost four in a row (0-3-1).
Cody Glass gave Nashville a 1-0 lead on the first shot of the game at 1:15 of the first period, scoring on a point shot that deflected off Edmonton defenseman Cody Ceci.

Hyman tied it 1-1 at 8:19, tipping in a slap pass from Evan Bouchard at the left post, then made it 2-1 at 14:50 when he jammed in a rebound under a sprawling Fabbro in the crease.
Draisaitl extended it to 3-1 on a power play with 4.9 seconds left in the period on a one-timer off a cross-ice pass from McDavid. It was Draisaitl's 20th goal of the season.
Ryan Johansen cut it to 3-2 at 3:22 of the second period on a one-timer from the left face-off dot on a Filip Forsberg no-look, cross-ice pass.
Draisaitl restored the two-goal lead 57 seconds later, scoring off the rush from the left circle to make it 4-2 at 4:19.
Draisaitl has 10 points (three goals, seven assists) in two games against the Predators this season.
"I can't explain it, but [Draisaitl] seems to do well against this team," Oilers coach Jay Woodcroft said. "I think most importantly, he's more worried about us playing the game the right way and finding two points. I thought that line was very good tonight. The personal success I know for Leon Draisaitl comes second to winning."

Fabbro cut it to 4-3 at 9:53 with a snap shot that beat Campbell glove side after Yakov Trenin found him trailing in the high slot.
Nashville had a 5-on-3 power play for 43 seconds after Darnell Nurse and Derek Ryan were each called for holding at 11:55 and 13:12, respectively, but only had one shot on goal.
McDavid then extended it to 5-3 at 18:55, when he skated around defenseman Mattias Ekholm at the Predators blue line before shooting between the legs of Fabbro on a power play.
Edmonton was 2-for-2 with the man-advantage. Nashville was 0-for-5 in the game and is 0-for-15 during the losing streak.
"Special teams was definitely a big factor," Josi said. "They scored two on the power play. We had chances, didn't score. That's killing us right now. Guys on the power play have to be better. We've got to score some goals. It's hard to win against a team like that, with that much power on the power play. It's tough."
Hyman completed the hat trick with an empty-net goal at 17:23 of the third period for the 6-3 final.
"I see someone who brings a positive attitude first of all," Woodcroft said. "[Hyman's] passionate. He exudes passion for the game. He has an insatiable appetite to get better, so he's buoyed by the challenge of playing with two great players like Connor and Leon."

The Oilers are 9-0-1 in their past 10 games against the Predators.
"We've had a hard time containing them with match-ups, guys being able to play against those guys and shut them down on a regular basis," Nashville coach John Hynes said. "That's given us problems and their power play is dynamic. They find ways to be able to score [and] in a lot of the games, that's been the difference. It's been McDavid's line and the power play."
