Kopitar gave the Kings a 3-2 lead at 4:27 of the third period when Derek Forbort made a long pass into the neutral zone for a breakaway. Kopitar beat Talbot between the legs with a wrist shot for his seventh point (three goals, four assists) in his past five games.
"Our passing was a lot cleaner as a line and as a team, so when you can pass the puck and move the puck up the ice it opens up a lot more ice," Brown said. "I think a lot of the goals we scored tonight were the result of good passing, really."
Chiasson put the Oilers ahead 2-1 at 2:16 of the second period, but Brown responded with a power-play goal at 4:13 to tie the game at 2-2.
Chiasson tied it 1-1 at 13:19 of the first period. With Kopitar in the penalty box for holding, McDavid was able to skate along the right circle before finding Chiasson at the edge of the crease.
"He's a really, really smart offensive player," Hitchcock said of Chiasson, who has four goals in his past five games. "He doesn't have great foot speed, but he's got great offensive instincts and where he's really good is down low. He gets himself into great spots. I think we've got to consider bouncing him up one notch."
Brown gave the Kings a 1-0 lead 7:56 into the game, his first goal since Nov. 3 against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Matt Luff extended his goal streak to four games with an empty-net goal at 19:33 for the 5-2 final score. He is the fifth Kings rookie to have a goal streak of at least four games.
