Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire also lauded the Red Wings hire on the pregame broadcast and said he was hoping to secure some tickets for the upcoming season as soon as possible.

Yzerman was GM of the Tampa Bay Lightning for eight seasons before stepping down in September 2018.
