DAL@BUF: Rantanen scores goal against Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen

BUFFALO -- Mikko Rantanen had a goal and three assists, and Jake Oettinger made 25 saves for his second straight shutout in a 4-0 win for the Dallas Stars against the Buffalo Sabres at KeyBank Center on Thursday.

Oettinger made 13 saves in a 5-0 win against the San Jose Sharks on Monday.

Jason Robertson, Sam Steel and Roope Hintz also scored, and Wyatt Johnston had three assists for the Stars (2-2-0), who have won two in a row.

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 14 saves for the Sabres (2-2-0).

Robertson put the Stars on the board 1-0 at 9:03 of the first period, skating down the right side on a 2-on-1 with Rantanen and snapping it low blocker side on Luukkonen.

Steel made it 2-0 at 9:36 of the second period, snapping a shot from high above the slot through traffic and between Luukkonen’s pads.

Rantanen pushed it to 3-0 at 13:57. Nils Lundkvist’s shot from the left point bounced off the end boards to Rantanen, who backhanded it into an open net with Luukkonen pulled to the other side.

Hintz scored the Stars’ first power-play goal of the season to increase the lead to 4-0 at 15:34. He took a pass from Johnston in the right circle and put it top corner on the far side. Dallas had been 0-for-9 on the man-advantage ahead of Hintz's power-play goal.
