"I think what makes our team good is we can play out different ways," Predators forward James Neal said. "If it's going to be a quick game like that, we can play like that, too. [Goaltender Pekka Rinne] made some big saves for us like he always does."
Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon tied the game 1-1 at 12:08 on a shot from the slot. Forward Rene Bourque retrieved the puck behind the Predators net to get the puck to MacKinnon, and he beat Rinne for his sixth goal.
"For me, that was the hardest we've played, that was the best game we've played in a couple of weeks," Avalanche coach Jared Bednar said. "We had some chances to square that game up, and it was a tough way to fall behind on the 5-on-3 so we've just got to keep sticking with it."

Neal gave the Predators a 2-1 lead at 18:26 on a wrist shot from the right faceoff circle. Forward Colin Wilson passed to Neal, who beat Varlamov above the shoulder for his 11th goal.
Neal returned after missing four games with an upper-body injury.
"It was obviously a good feeling when you get back to play with your teammates," Neal said. "It makes it a little easier when you're on home ice. It was good to be back and a good win."
Avalanche forward Matt Duchene tied the game 2-2 at 3:46 of the second period on the power play. Duchene got the puck from forward Mikko Rantanen and slid it past Rinne for his eighth goal.
P.K. Subban gave the Predators a 3-2 lead at 5:59 on a slap shot from the point for his seventh goal.
"Our forwards, the one thing about this team since I've been here is they use the [defense]," Subban said. "It's something that obviously I like to play with, obviously with forwards that like to use the defense because it's easy for us to generate offense that way when they grind and cycle down low."
Duchene tied the game 3-3 at 13:56 for his second power-play goal. Rinne made the save on a shot from Avalanche forward Jarome Iginla, but Duchene scored on the rebound.

Josi's goal came on a 5-on-3 power play. He drifted down from the blue line to the slot and beat Varlamov on the glove side.

They said it

"He doesn't need a lot of room and he doesn't need a lot of space. That's a perfect example of it, but what was really good about having James back there is it just provided a good balance in our lines and in the lineup to be able to roll them over. I thought that his line was real good and gave us a nice attack, being able to have a balance of offensive power on each line. Every time you send somebody over the boards, there's a chance. He just adds depth to that." - Predators coach Peter Laviolette on James Neal's goal in his return

Need to know
