COL@ARI: Landeskog ties Forsberg with PPG on doorstep

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Six players scored for the Colorado Avalanche in a 6-2 win against the Arizona Coyotes at Gila River Arena on Saturday.

Jacob MacDonald scored his first NHL goal in more than two years, and Philipp Grubauer made 23 saves for the Avalanche (11-6-1), who swept a two-game set against the Coyotes after a 3-2 win Friday.
"The contributions from all four lines and the six D-men, I thought, was fantastic," Colorado coach Jared Bednar said.
Ilya Lyubushkin scored his first NHL goal, and Antti Raanta made 35 saves for the Coyotes (9-9-3), who went 3-4-2 on a nine-game homestand.

COL@ARI: MacKinnon rips wrist shot home from circle

"It was hard to sustain (a push) against a very good hockey club," Arizona coach Rick Tocchet said. "There were pockets of the game where [Nathan MacKinnon] had the puck in our end, and they're very talented. They're one of the best lines in the League."
MacKinnon skated around defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson at the blue line and scored on a wrist shot to give the Avalanche a 1-0 lead at 12:16 of the first period.
Clayton Keller tied it 1-1 at 14:13 of the second period when he deflected Hjalmarsson's shot from the right point.

MacDonald scored on a wraparound at 17:15 to make it 2-1. It was the defenseman's second goal in eight NHL games and his first since his NHL debut Oct. 6, 2018, with the Florida Panthers.
"It's a great feeling for some of us to get our first and get the monkey off our back, so to speak, and to come out of here with two wins," MacDonald said.
With Coyotes defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson off for tripping, Gabriel Landeskog made it 3-1 at 1:58 of the third period when he scored on the rebound of his own shot after Raanta made the initial save on Mikko Rantanen.
"It was a one-goal game against a good hockey club, we're still in the game and we can get points out of it," Ekman-Larsson said. "But I took a stupid penalty, and it went downhill from there."
It was Landeskog's 202nd NHL goal, tying him with Peter Forsberg for third in Avalanche history behind Milan Hejduk (375) and Joe Sakic (391).
"I probably had three or four posters of 'Foppa' on my wall as a kid, so I think it goes without saying he was a role model for me, and somebody I looked up to," Landeskog said.
It was Landeskog's first goal in 11 games. He and Rantanen played most of the second half of the game on a line with MacKinnon after starting it with center Nazem Kadri.
"We want contributions from as many guys as we possibly can, but I think we've been a little bit snakebitten the last couple of weeks," Landeskog said. "We've been creating scoring chances but not capitalizing. … I think tonight we got rewarded for the hard work."

COL@ARI: Jost fires in first goal of season off rush

Joonas Donskoi scored to make it 4-1 at 12:00, and Tyson Jost made it 5-1 at 13:57 with his first goal of the season.
Lyubushkin scored at 16:32 to make it 5-2. It was his 103rd NHL game.
Pierre-Edouard Bellemare scored into an empty net at 18:09 for the 6-2 final. It was his first goal.
The Avalanche have won four straight against the Coyotes, including Games 4 and 5 of the best-of-7 2020 Western Conference First Round, outscoring them 23-6.
"We want to play real solid hockey and play fast and not overcomplicate things," Landeskog said. "I thought we did that over the last couple games and we've been getting rewarded for it."
Colorado defenseman Cale Makar did not play because of an upper-body injury. Bednar said he'll probably miss the final two of a four-game road trip, against the San Jose Sharks on Monday and Wednesday.
Arizona played without leading scorer Conor Garland, who is day to day with a lower-body injury. The forward has 19 points (seven goals, 12 assists) in 20 games.
NOTES: The Avalanche are 9-0-0 when entering the third period with a lead. … Colorado's power play is 3-for-26 in its past nine games but has scored one goal in three straight. … Raanta made his first start since Feb. 13 and was Arizona's third starting goalie in as many games. With Darcy Kuemper out with a lower-body injury, Adin Hill started Friday and made 25 saves.
