TAMPA-- Brayden Point scored with 1:35 remaining in overtime to give the Tampa Bay Lightning a 3-2 win against the Chicago Blackhawks at Amalie Arena on Wednesday.

With the Lightning on a 4-on-3 power play, Steven Stamkos faked a shot from the hash mark and fed Point in the slot, where he scored into an open net.
"Nikita Kucherov] made a great play on the wall to suck a couple of guys in," Stamkos said. "I know it doesn't get on the score sheet, but he made that play happen. [Vladislav Namestnikov] found me and I knew Point was back door."

Ondrej Palat and Chris Kunitz scored for the Lightning (16-3-2), who trailed 2-0. Andrei Vasilevskiy made 29 saves for his NHL-leading 15th victory. Ryan Callahan had two assists.

Patrick Kane scored both goals for the Blackhawks (10-8-3), and Corey Crawford made 35 saves.
Kane gave the Blackhawks at 1-0 lead at 3:49 of the first period when his wrist shot to the far post got past Vasilevskiy on the glove side.
"We knew we had to come out and get off to a good start against this team," Kane said. "I think we were pretty focused and ready to play this game. Even after 40 minutes we were in a position leading 2-1 against this team."

Kane scored again at 15:54 to make it 2-0. With the Blackhawks on the power play, he took a one-timer at the goal line off a feed from Cody Franson.
"We had a great first period, played with great pace," Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said. "It was an exciting game, we had our chances to get the lead again. They're a dangerous team and we took one too many penalties."
Palat made it 2-1 at 4:27 of the second period with a shorthanded goal. Victor Hedman forced a turnover at the blue line and dropped a pass for Callahan, who set up Palat for a one-timer.
Kunitz tied it 2-2 31 seconds into the third period when he went to the five-hole to beat Crawford.
"That line had energy tonight, I thought that Cedric Paquette coming back in the lineup helped tremendously," Lightning coach Jon Cooper said. "Obviously we don't come back and win that game without that line."

Vasilevskiy denied Kane on a breakaway in the third period to keep him from getting a hat trick that would have given Chicago the lead.
"[Vasilevskiy] was great," Palat said. "He was the best player for us and kept us in this game."

They said It

"We need to take it game by game and keep working. I thought we had some good chances, I thought both teams did a good job of creating chances. Nice to score with the 5-on-3, it seems like the units are starting to get some chemistry." -- Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane
"Things are going to have to improve on our end if we want to sustain that threat that we have. Tonight it was a little frustrating, but we'll have to get better and that's on us as players. When you can get away without scoring on a 5-on-3 on a four-minute power play and still come out with a win, that's a positive." --Lightning forward Steven Stamkos
