CHI@SEA: Jones hits 300, extends point streak on goal

SEATTLE-- Seth Jones scored a goal for his 300th NHL point, helping the Chicago Blackhawks to their fourth win in a row under new coach Derek King, 4-2 against the Seattle Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena on Wednesday.

Alex DeBrincat and Patrick Kane each scored and had an assist, and Marc-Andre Fleury made 31 saves for the Blackhawks (5-9-2), who won for the first time in seven road games this season. They have not lost since King replaced Jeremy Colliton on Nov. 6.
"[Jones] is awesome. I mean, he's very skilled," DeBrincat said. "He's really fast, as you guys saw. It just brings a whole new dynamic to it. You can get four guys in the rush rather than three. I think he's helped us a lot this year."
Philipp Grubauer made 15 saves making his 200th NHL start, and Jared McCann and Yanni Gourde scored for the Kraken (4-11-1), who have lost five straight.
"Wish I had an answer for it," McCann said. "It's frustrating. We need to clean it up. I'm frustrated. I want to win. I think everybody does on our team. You know, things aren't going our way right now. But we're shooting ourselves in the foot. That's the way it is."
Chicago took a 1-0 lead at 15:03 of the first period when Jones tapped in a goal after a quick passing play between Kane, DeBrincat and him. Jones has an NHL career-high seven-game point streak (two goals, five assists), and 14 points (two goals, 12 assists) this season, his first with Chicago.
DeBrincat extended the lead to 2-0 at 2:01 of the second period when he scored over Grubauer's blocker. Kane scored at 5:36 of the third period to make it 3-0.
"[DeBrincat] is a guy that I think he's been known as a shooter since he came into the league," Kane said. "He's so good at finding open areas where he can get open and be able to get a shot off. So good that he's [going to] be able to score a lot of the time."

CHI@SEA: DeBrincat beats Grubauer for breakaway goal

McCann pulled Seattle to 3-1 with a power-play goal at 14:15 of the third period. Gourde scored a 6-on-5 goal at 18:11 to make it 3-2.
"We've got to figure out a way to play a little bit better with the lead," Kane said. "Just seemed like it was a lot of like chasing the puck, get it out of the zone, and they come out and do the same thing over and over again. It's not really the recipe for success. That should be the fun time to play hockey, and when you have the lead, the other teams take chances, and you can take advantage."
Jake McCabe scored an empty-net goal at 19:34 for the 4-2 final.
"This team is resilient," Seattle coach Dave Hakstol said. "I love the resiliency of the second and third. So we've got to add that push to the drop of the puck in the first period."
