Anaheim outshot Calgary 41-23, including 20-5 in the first period.
"We moved the puck quick and shot quick," Getzlaf said. "At times, we have the habit of holding on to the puck too long. We did a better job of passing and shooting off passes."
Rakell gave the Ducks a 2-1 lead with a power-play goal at 2:17 of the third period.

They went on the man-advantage after Flames goaltender Mike Smith flipped the puck over the glass at 2:10 while being pressured by forward Chris Wagner behind the net.
"I was trying to rim it around the boards and it went over the glass," Smith said. "The margin is so small down the stretch, and plays like that matter in games."
All five Ducks touched the puck in the seven seconds of power-play time before Rakell scored his Anaheim-leading 12th goal. Getzlaf took the face-off in the Calgary zone, and Adam Henrique dove into the circle and tipped the puck out to Fowler at the blue line. Fowler sent it into the middle, where Jakob Silfverberg redirected it to Getzlaf, who quickly passed to Rakell in the left circle for a one-timer.
Smith made 39 saves for the Flames (18-16-4), who have lost three games in a row (0-2-1).
"I don't think it's completely a lack of confidence, I think it's a lack of execution," Calgary coach Glen Gulutzan said. "We've got to bear down."
Flames forward Micheal Ferland tied the game 1-1 at 11:55 of the second period.

Smith gave the puck to defenseman Matt Bartkowski, who skated it into the Ducks zone and took a shot from the top of the right circle. Gibson made the save, but the rebound came out to the slot. Anaheim defenseman Francois Beauchemin couldn't find the puck, and Ferland skated in behind him and shot it past Gibson.
The Ducks had a strong start and took a 1-0 lead in the opening minutes for the fourth straight game. Getzlaf brought the puck into the Calgary zone and dropped it back for Fowler, who quickly gave it back to Getzlaf. He brought the puck to the front of the net but swung and missed on his shot attempt. Fowler came in behind Getzlaf and swept the puck into the net at 3:48.
Calgary's first power play, following a cross-checking call against Josh Manson at 4:09 of the first period, was wiped out by a high-sticking penalty on Mikael Backlund 28 seconds later.
Backlund was called for holding at 7:39 of the first, and Flames forward Garnet Hathaway received a double minor for roughing with 1:40 left in the period.
The Ducks appeared to score on the power play with 1.2 seconds left in the first, but video review showed Ryan Kesler used a distinct kicking motion to deflect the rebound of a Getzlaf shot into the net.
"We've been doing a good job lately of getting off to good starts, but we seem to kind of take our foot off the gas and let teams back into the hockey game," Fowler said. "They made their push in the second, but we were able to stick with it. I thought it was one of our most complete games all year."
