Andersson lifts Flames past Ducks in OT

ANAHEIM -- Rasmus Andersson scored at 2:24 of overtime to give the Calgary Flames a 3-2 win against the Anaheim Ducks at Honda Center on Friday.

Michael Stone and Brett Ritchie scored, and Jacob Markstrom made 21 saves for the Flames (16-12-7), who went 3-0-1 on a four-game road trip.
"They had a couple of tired guys out there, and we managed to capitalize," Andersson said. "Now, we have a couple days off and enjoy Christmas with friends and family. Then, we get back to it."
Lukas Dostal made 42 saves in his fifth straight start, and Mason McTavish and Jakob Silfverberg each scored on the power play for the Ducks (9-22-4), who have lost three in a row (0-2-1).
Dostal, who was recalled from San Diego of the American Hockey League on Dec. 10, has saved 163 of 176 shots in the past four games (.926).
"He has been super solid ever since he got into the lineup with us," Silfverberg said of Dostal. "I think it's the start of a big career for him."

Stone scored at 4:19 of the first period with a slap shot from above the left face-off circle to give Calgary a 1-0 lead.
McTavish tied it 1-1 at 16:44 on a one timer from bottom of the right circle just 10 seconds into a 5-on-3 power play.
"I think we kind of came out a little bit slow," McTavish said. "I'm not really too sure why that was, but credit to [the Flames]; they came out hard and were competing. I think we kind of turned it on more in the second half (of the first period) and got a couple power plays."
The Flames set a franchise record for shot differential in the second period (23-1), including 9-0 in the first 10 minutes, but only scored once.
"That happens sometimes," Ritchie said. "Hockey is a weird game. We've had some that went the other way."
Ritchie made it 2-1 at 2:56. Anaheim tried clearing the puck up the boards, but it hit an official and stayed in the zone. Trevor Lewis retrieved the puck and passed to Ritchie, who scored on a backhand.
Silfverberg tied it 2-2 with a power-play goal at 3:28 of the third period when he scored on a wrist shot from the right circle off a rush.

Dostal made 12 saves in the third to help the Ducks reach overtime.
"He basically gave us a point," Silfverberg said.
Anaheim killed four penalties, all in the second period. The Ducks are 17-for-21 on the penalty kill in the past four games.
"It's unfair what we're doing to that kid, taking that many penalties," Ducks forward Troy Terry said of Dostal. "He's stood in there and been kind of the backbone for us, but we've got to stay out of the box."
The Flames lost their previous five games that had gone beyond regulation.
"We stuck with it, we found a way, it was nice to win a game in OT," Andersson said. "It feels like that's been a long time ago, so it was nice to see that one go in and now we head home."
