Kane Bedard mullets

Connor Bedard, the projected No. 1 pick in the 2023 Upper Deck NHL Draft, was determined to mark in his own special way the first playoff appearance by Regina in five seasons.

He did so by paying homage to one of his favorite players with a Patrick Kane-inspired haircut.
"Patty Kane did it when he had his mullet, so I had a photo of him to the hairdresser and held it out there a bit," Bedard said on Tuesday. "His was a little nicer, but I think mine's alright."
Bedard's hair style is reminiscent to what Kane did prior to the start of the 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs, when his Chicago Blackhawks won the championship in six games against the Philadelphia Flyers. Kane plays for the New York Rangers this season.

Bedard and his teammates were scattered throughout Regina at different barber shops and hairdressers this week to freshen up for their first Western Hockey League playoff appearance since 2018. The Pats begin a best-of-7 Western Hockey League playoff series at Saskatoon with Game 1 on Friday.
"I don't know who's idea it was [to get the haircuts], but a lot of guys obviously went through with it and it kind of brings the team closer together," Bedard said.
The 17-year-old center led the WHL in goals (71), points (143), shots on goal (360), points per-game (2.51) and goals per-game (1.24) in 57 regular-season matches this season.
Bedard led all players at the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship in January with 23 points (nine goals, 14 assists) and was named the tournament's top forward and most valuable player, helping Canada win a second straight gold medal.
NHL teams will find out their chances to get Bedard when the NHL Draft Lottery takes place on May 8.
