Matthew Savoie
, a top prospect for the 2022 Upper Deck NHL Draft, is among the 44 players scheduled to take part in Hockey Canada's evaluation camp for the 2022 and 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship.

The camp will be held July 23-27 at Markin MacPhail Centre at WinSport's Canada Olympic Park in Calgary.
Savoie (5-foot-9, 170 pounds), a center with Winnipeg in the Western Hockey League, is No. 4 in
NHL Central Scouting's final ranking of North American skaters
for the 2022 draft. He was seventh in the WHL with 90 points (35 goals, 55 assists) in 65 games this season.
"Maybe the most natural goal-scorer in this draft class," Central Scouting director Dan Marr said of Savoie.
Savoie's Winnipeg teammate, center
Conor Geekie
(6-3, 190), also is expected to be at the camp. Geekie, who had 70 points (24 goals, 46 assists) in 63 games, is No. 5 in the final ranking.
John Williams of Central Scouting said Geekie's skating style reminds him of Florida Panthers center Joe Thornton at the same age.
"He's a big kid, so there are nights when the legs are a little bit heavy," Williams said. "... A big, lanky guy who picks his feet up a little bit. I think for him, it's just a matter of time as he adds some weight and strength to his game. At the end of the day, you're going to find at 21 or 22 years old, that this guy is going to be a big-time player."
Also slated to attend will be Seattle (WHL) defenseman
Kevin Korchinski
(No. 7), center
Luca Del Bel Belluz
(No. 8) of Mississauga in the Ontario Hockey League, Moose Jaw (WHL) teammates
Jagger Firkus
(No. 12), a right wing, and defenseman
Denton Mateychuk
(No. 14), and Swift Current (WHL) defenseman
Owen Pickering
(No. 15).
Tyler Brennan
of Prince George (WHL), No. 1 on
Central Scouting's final ranking of North American goalies
, also is expected at the camp.
The draft will be held at Bell Centre in Montreal on July 7-8.

Others scheduled to attend the camp include nine players picked in the first round of the 2021 NHL Draft: defensemen
Brandt Clarke
(No. 8, Los Angeles Kings),
Corson Ceulemans
(No. 25, Columbus Blue Jackets) and
Nolan Allan
(No. 32, Chicago Blackhawks), and forwards
Brennan Othmann
(No. 16, New York Rangers),
Zachary Bolduc
(No. 17, St. Louis Blues),
Wyatt Johnston
(No. 23, Dallas Stars),
Zachary L'Heureux
(No. 27, Nashville Predators),
Chase Stillman
(No. 29, New Jersey Devils) and
Zach Dean
(No. 30, Vegas Golden Knights).
Two players eligible for the 2023 NHL Draft also are to be on hand: forwards Nate Danielson of Brandon (WHL) and Adam Fantilli of Chicago in the United States Hockey League.
The 2022 WJC will be held Aug. 9-20 in Edmonton. The tournament originally was scheduled for Dec. 26-Jan. 5 but was postponed Dec. 29 because of concerns surrounding the coronavirus.
Players not attending the camp who took part in the 2022 WJC in December will be eligible to play when the tournament returns, regardless of whether they have turned 20 or not.
Ten teams will take part in the tournament: Canada, Finland, Czechia, Slovakia and Latvia will play in Group A, and the United States, Sweden, Germany, Switzerland and Austria will play in Group B.
Latvia was added to replace Russia, which has been banned from international play because of its invasion of Ukraine.
The 2023 WJC is scheduled for Dec. 26, 2022 to Jan. 5, 2023, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Moncton, New Brunswick.
