SEATTLE, Wash. - March 20, 2022 - Today, the Seattle Kraken (@SeattleKraken) announced that they have acquired a 2022 second-round pick, a 2023 second-round pick and a 2024 third-round pick from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for defenseman Mark Giordano and forward Colin Blackwell.
"We want to thank Mark for his time with the Seattle Kraken," said Kraken General Manager Ron Francis. "As the organization's first captain, he made an immediate and lasting impact both on and off the ice. He is a consummate professional and we appreciate his effort and leadership to help establish a culture here."

Giordano was named the first captain in franchise history on Oct. 11, 2021 after being selected by the Kraken from the Calgary Flames in the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft. The six-foot-one, 200-pound defenseman totaled 23 points (six goals, 17 assists) in 55 games for Seattle. Giordano, a native of Toronto, Ontario, became the 364th player and 120th defenseman in NHL history to play in 1,000 regular-season games on March 5, 2021.
"We appreciate the energy, passion and hard work that Colin brought to the rink every day and we wish him the best in Toronto," said Francis.
Blackwell totaled 17 points (eight goals, nine assists) in 39 games for the Kraken. The forward was Seattle's selection from the New York Rangers in the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft.
