Nikolaj Ehlers was the lone member of the Winnipeg Jets in action on Day 5 at the IIHF World Hockey Championship on Tuesday, as his Denmark team was looking to get back in the win column against Italy.

DENMARK 2, ITALY 1
Ehlers and the Danish squad were looking to bounce back from a disappointing 6-0 loss to Switzerland two days ago, and accomplished that goal with a 2-1 victory.
Ehlers opened the tournament with a three-assist effort against Kazakhstan last Thursday, and all three of those came on power play goals as Denmark went four-for-five on the man advantage against Kazakhstan.
Special teams was at the forefront again on Tuesday, as Ehlers scored the game's opening goal on the power play with 4:06 remaining in the first. Ehlers corralled a loose puck off a missed shot from Joachim Blichfeld, then made his way into the left circle and snapped one past Andreas Bernard.

Italy responded in the second with a power play goal of their own. Alex Petan of Delta, BC - the older brother of former Winnipeg Jets forward Nic Petan - banged home a centering feed from his teammate - and cousin - Dante Hannoun with 60 seconds to go in the second period.
It was just Italy's eighth shot on goal of the game, compared to 36 from Denmark in the first 40 minutes.
Denmark took the lead back 1:46 into the third with Mathias Bau finishing off a give-and-go play with line mate Nicolai Meyer, giving Bau his first of the tournament and his team a 2-1 lead.
The next action for Denmark (2-0-0-1) is on Thursday against Germany.
