BRONZE MEDAL GAME: USA BEATS CANADA 4-1:
Anders Lee will take home a bronze medal at the IIHF World Hockey Championship.
Lee and Team USA defeated Canada 4-1 on Sunday morning, winning the third place medal at the annual international tournnament. Lee scored an empty-net goal in the win, finishing the tournament with four goals in 10 games. The bronze medal is Lee's second at the IIHF World Championship.

Nick Bonino scored the game-winner, putting Team USA ahead 2-1 at 13:21 of the third period, while Lee and Chris Kreider iced the game with a pair of empty-netters.
Bo Horvat scored the lone goal for Team Canada.

Lee_Sweden

SEMIFINALS: CANADA, USA LOSE, WILL PLAY FOR BRONZE SUNDAY:
Canada and Team USA will play for the bronze medal on Sunday after losing a pair of semifinal games on Saturday.
Team USA was shut out 6-0 by Sweden in the first game of the day. Nashville forward Viktor Arvidsson scored a pair of goals, while Mikael Backlund had a team-high three assists.
Team USA will play Canada for the bronze medal at 9:45 a.m. et.
Canada fell in the second semifinal game of the day, dropping a 3-2 contest to Switzerland. Bo Horvat and Colton Parayko scored for Canada, but it was not enough to overcome Switzerland. Canada will play Team USA for the bronze medal at 9:45 a.m. et.
Switzerland and Sweden will play for the gold medal at 2:15 p.m. et.

Lee_Czechs

QUARTERFINALS: CANADA, USA ADVANCE TO SEMIS:
Team Canada and Team USA both advanced to the IIHF World Hockey Championship semis after scoring a pair of close, quarterfinal wins on Thursday.
Canada needed overtime, but skated to a 5-4 win over Russia, while the Americans topped the Czech Republic 3-2. Both will play in the semifinals on Saturday, with Team USA facing Sweden at 9:15 a.m. (et) and Canada taking on Switzerland at 1:15 p.m. (et).
Of the six Islanders playing on Canada and the U.S., only Jordan Eberle recorded a point on Thursday, assisting on Colton Parayko's first-period goal for Canada.

Canada never trailed against the Russians, but couldn't seal the deal until Ryan O'Reilly's OT winner, which came on the power play at 4:57. Connor McDavid had a team-high three assists. Islanders forward Anthony Beauvillier did not play in Thursday's quarterfinal.
With the win, Canada will play Switzerland in semifinal action on Saturday. Puck drop is at 1:15 p.m. et. Switzerland beat Finland 3-2 on Thursday.
As for Team USA, Patrick Kane scored a pair of goals, while Cam Atkinson also found the back of the net in the quarter final win over the Czechs. The Americans jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period, but found themselves in a 2-2 tie after 40 minutes. They ultimately held off the Czech rally as Kane scored the game-winner in the third period.

Anders Lee was held off the scoresheet in the win, but was visited by Fenov Pierre-Louis who flew out to Denmark to cheer on the Islanders forward.
Team USA will play Sweden at 9:15 a.m. et on Saturday morning, with the winner heading to Sunday's gold medal game. Sweden beat Latvia 3-2 in Thursday's quarterfinal.

Barzal_Germany

DAY 12: CANADA SHUTS OUT GERMANY 3-0:
Team Canada wrapped up preliminary play with a 3-0 shutout win over Germany on Tuesday.
With the win, Canada improved to 4-1-1-1 [W-OTW-OTL-L] and finished third in Group B, while Germany fell to 1-1-2-3 and finished sixth in Group B. Canada will play in Thursday's quarterfinal against either Russia or Sweden, while Germany is eliminated.
Jordan Eberle was the lone Islander to record a point in Tuesday's affair, picking up an assist on Tyson Jost's third period goal. Darcy Kuemper recorded 12 saves for the shutout, while Brayden Schenn scored the eventual winner 20 seconds into the contest.

Lee_Finland

USA LOSES FIRST GAME TO FINLAND:
Team USA suffered their first loss of the IIHF World Hockey Championship on Tuesday, falling 6-2 to Finland.
The loss snapped Team USA's six-game winning streak and the Americans finished preliminary play with a 4-2-0-1 record [W-OTW-OTL-L]. Team USA finished second in Group B, as Finland took the top spot with Tuesday's win.
Anders Lee was held off the scoresheet in the loss. The Islanders forward finished preliminary play with three goals in seven games.
Team USA will play the Czech Republic in the quarterfinals on Thursday. The game time will be determined.

Beauvillier_White

DAY 11: BEAUVILLIER SCORES IN OT WIN:
Anthony Beauvillier scored his second goal of the IIHF World Hockey Championship on Tuesday, as Canada beat Latvia 2-1 in overtime.
Beauvillier scored the icebreaker for Canada, while Connor McDavid finished the job with the OT winner. Beauvillier crashed the net on his goal and deposited a Jean-Gabriel Pageau rebound that was sitting behind the Latvian netminder. Islanders linemate Mat Barzal picked up the second assist on the goal.

With the win, Canada improves to 3-1-1-1 [W-OTW-OTL-L] and qualifies for the knockout phase of the tournament. Canada currently sits in third place in Group B with 12 points, one behind Finland and four behind Team USA.
Canada finishes preliminary play on Tuesday against Germany. Puck drop is at 10:15 a.m.

Lee_Norway

DAY 10: LEE SCORES AS USA STAYS UNBEATEN:
Anders Lee scored his third goal of the IIHF World Hockey Championship on Sunday, as Team USA beat Norway 9-3.
Lee's goal made it 6-1 as Team USA cruised to a sixth straight win, improving to 4-2-0-0 [W-OTW-OTL-L] at the tournament. The Americans currently sit atop Group B with 16 points and have scored a tournament-high 37 goals.
While Lee netted his third goal of the tournament, Team USA got a trio of three-point efforts from Patrick Kane, Cam Atkinson and Dylan Larkin to skate past Norway. Lee has goals in two straight games.

GERMANY BEATS FINLAND IN OT:
Germany picked up their second win of the 2018 Worlds, beating Finland 3-2 in overtime on Sunday.
Markus Eisenschmid scored the OT winner as Germany improved to 1-1-2-2 [W-OTW-OTL-L]. Islanders defenseman and German captain Dennis Seidenberg was held off the scoresheet in the win.

Barzal_Finland

DAY 9: CANADA FALLS TO FINLAND 5-1:
Canada suffered their first regulation loss at the IIHF World Hockey Championship, losing 5-1 to Finland on Saturday.
Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored the lone goal for Canada, as all five New York Islanders were held off the scoresheet.
The loss dropped Canada to 3-0-1-1 [W-OTW-OTL-L] at the tournament and the Canadians currently sit in fourth place in Group B, one point behind Denmark, who holds a game in hand.
Canada returns to action on Monday when they take on Latvia at 2:15 p.m. et.
GERMANY FALLS TO LATVIA 3-1:
Germany dropped to 1-0-2-2 [W-OTW-OTL-L] at the IIHF World Hockey Championship after falling to Latvia 3-1 on Saturday.
Dominik Kahun scored the lone goal for Germany, who fell behind 3-0 before breaking the shutout bid with under 12 minutes to play in the third period. Dennis Seidenberg did not record a point for the Germans.
Germany is back in action on Sunday afternoon when they take on Finland at 2:15 p.m. et.

DAY 8: LEE SCORES AS USA BEATS KOREA 13-1:
Anders Lee scored his second goal of the IIHF World Hockey Championship, as Team USA throttled Korea 13-1 on Friday. The win was Team USA's fifth straight win of the tournament, as they improved to 3-2-0-0 [W-OTW-OTL-L].
It was a big day for a pair of native Long Islanders, as well as Lee. Charlie McAvoy (Long Beach) had five points (2G, 3A) in his first Worlds game, joining Team USA after the Boston Bruins were eliminated on May 6. Sonny Milano (Massapequa) recorded a goal and an assist, while Tage Thompson, the son of Bridgeport Sound Tigers coach Brent Thompson who spent offseasons in Oyster Bay, also potted a goal and an assist.

Patrick Kane matched McAvoy's five-point effort with two goals and three assists, while Johnny Gaudreau dished three helpers in a dominant win for the Americans.

DAY 7.5: JORDAN EBERLE INTERVIEW:
If you're a Friends fan like Jordan Eberle, you know all about the lightning round. Well the Islanders forward found himself in one the other day, answering as many questions as he could in 100 seconds in an interview with the IIHF. The topics ranged from music, to style to hockey cards and questions about his teammates. They teed them up and Eberle knocked them down. Enjoy.

Pulock_Norway

DAY 7: CANADA SHUTS OUT NORWAY 5-0:
Connor McDavid scored a hat trick, while Curtis McElhinney and Darcy Kuemper combined for a 10-save shutout, as Canada defeated Norway 5-0 on Thursday at the 2018 IIHF World Hockey Championship.
The win was Canada's third straight, as the Canadians improve to 3-0-1-0 [W-OTW-OTL-L] at the tournament and are tied with Team USA atop Group B with 10 points each.
The five Islanders on Canada were all held off the scoresheet for the first time in the tournament. Canada will take on Finland on Saturday at 2:15 p.m. et.

USA BEATS LATVIA 3-2 IN OT:
Team USA improved to 2-2-0-0 [W-OTW-OTL-L] at the 2018 IIHF World Hockey Championship, beating Latvia 3-2 in overtime on Thursday.
Cam Atkinson scored the OT winner at 1:23 of the extra frame, as the Americans needed a comeback and overtime to get past Latvia [1-1-1-1]. Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat - who was named Team USA's player of the game - each had a team-high two assists. Anders Lee was held off the scoresheet.
Team USA remains undefeated with the win and play again on Friday when they take on Korea at 2:15 p.m. et.

Seidenberg_Germany_Yellow

DAY 6: GERMANY GETS FIRST WIN:
Germany picked up their first win at the 2018 IIHF World Hockey Championship on Wednesday, defeating Korea 6-1.
Islanders defenseman - and German captain - Dennis Seidenberg was held off the scoresheet in the win. Seidenberg's brother Yannic (1G, 2A), Edmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl (1G, 2A) and Mattias Plachta (3A) each had three-point games.
Germany improves to 1-0-2-1 [W-OTW-OTL-L] with the win. Germany takes on Latvia on Saturday morning at 6:15 a.m. et.

Bailey_Canada_Denmark

DAY 4: CANADA ROUTS DENMARK 7-1:
Josh Bailey had a goal and an assist as Canada beat Denmark 7-1 on Monday afternoon.
Bailey scored the eventual winner at 8:25 of the first period, finishing off a highlight reel setup from Mathew Barzal. Bailey also recorded an assist on a Ryan O'Reilly goal in the second period to put Canada up 4-0.

Jordan Eberle scored his second goal of the tournament on Monday, as Canada scored three goals in 3:01 to take a 5-0 lead in the second period. Connor McDavid had a game-high three assists, while Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored a pair of goals in the victory.

Curtis McElhinney's shutout bid was ended with 8:07 to play in the third period.
The win was Canada's second straight after blanking Korea 10-0 on Sunday. Canada improves to 2-0-1-0 [W-OTW-OTL-L] at the tournament.
Canada is back in action on Thursday when they take on Norway at 2:15 p.m. et.

USA SHUTS OUT GERMANY 3-0:
Team USA improved to 2-1-0-0 [W-OTW-OTL-L) at the IIHF World Hockey Championship after shutting out Germany 3-0 on Monday.
The two Islanders - Team USA's Anders Lee and German captain Dennis Seidenberg - did not register a point in the game. Keith Kinkaid made 24 saves for his second straight shutout while Patrick Kane (1G, 2A) scored the game-winner for Team USA.
With the loss, Germany falls to 0-0-2-1 at IIHF Worlds. Germany takes on Korea on Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. et. USA takes on Latvia on Thursday at 10:15 a.m. et.

Barzal_Korea

DAY 3: FIVE ISLES GET POINTS AS CANADA BEATS KOREA 10-0
All five of the New York Islanders playing for Canada got on the scoresheet on Sunday morning, as the Canadians beat Korea 10-0 for their first win of the IIHF World Hockey Championship.
Mathew Barzal led the way with a game-high three assists, Jordan Eberle contributed a goal and an assist, while Ryan Pulock, Josh Bailey and Anthony Beauvillier each recorded one helper. Curtis McElhinney made 25 saves for the shutout, while Ryan Nugent-Hopkins was credited with the game winner. Four additional players - Connor McDavid, Pierre-Luc Dubois, Joel Edmundson and Tyson Jost - also had three-point games.

After two games, Barzal leads the tournament with four assists and is tied with McDavid and Dubois for the most points on Canada.
Canada is back in action on Monday when they take on Denmark at 2:15 p.m. et.
GERMANY FALLS TO NORWAY IN SHOOTOUT:
Germany dropped to 0-0-2-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) on Sunday after losing 5-4 in a shootout to Norway. The shootout loss was Germany's second of the tournament, which has them sitting in fifth place in Group B after two games. Dennis Seidenberg did not record a point in the shootout loss.
Germany takes on Team USA at 10:15 a.m. on Monday.

Lee_Denmark

DAY 2: USA SHUTS OUT DENMARK 4-0
Team USA picked up their second win at the IIHF World Hockey Championship on Saturday, shutting out the host nation in a 4-0 win over Denmark.
Anders Lee was held off the scoresheet in the win. Long Island native Keith Kinkaid made 40 saves in the shutout. Will Butcher, Nick Jensen and Chris Kreider each had a goal and an assist in the win.

DAY 1: LEE, BEAUVILLIER SCORE AS USA BEATS CANADA 5-4 IN SHOOTOUT
Anders Lee and Anthony Beauvillier each lit the lamp on Friday as Team USA beat Team Canada 5-4 in a shootout on the first day of the IIHF World Hockey Championship.
Six total Islanders played in the Canada-USA preliminary affair, with four Isles getting on the scoresheet.
Josh Bailey picked up an assist on Ryan O'Reilly's first period goal, scooping up his own rebound and spinning it to O'Reilly out front to put Canada ahead 2-0 early.

Lee responded for Team USA, snapping a shot far side past Darcy Kuemper to put the Americans on the board.
Team USA scored back-to-back goals to take a 3-2 lead in the second period, but Beauvillier, who was buzzing around the net all game, chipped in a rebound to deadlock the score 3-3 before the end of the frame.
Beauvillier was one third of the "Islanders line" on Friday, teaming up with Mathew Barzal (1A) and Jordan Eberle, his regular linemates on Long Island.

Both teams scored in the third period to force overtime, which solved nothing despite a power play for each team. Barzal and Eberle each took a shot during the shootout. Eberle had two chances in the skills competition, scoring on his first attempt, but getting denied by Keith Kinkaid in the sudden death round. Barzal hit the crossbar on his attempt.
Cam Atkinson scored the game-decider for the Americans.
Team USA is back in action on Saturday when they take on Denmark at 2:15 p.m. et. Canada resumes play on Sunday against Korea at 6:15 a.m. et.
SEIDENBERG, GERMANY FALL 3-2 TO DENMARK:
Dennis Seidenberg and Germany fell 3-2 in a shootout to Denmark on Friday. Seidenberg was held without a point in the contest. Former Islander Frans Nielsen scored the shootout winner.
