The New York Islanders look to maintain the momentum as they host the Detroit Red Wings in the final meeting of the season series between the clubs.

The Islanders got back in the win column with a 3-0 shutout over the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night. Scott Mayfield (1G, 1A) scored the game winner, while Anders Lee (1G, 1A) and Zach Parise also got on the board. Brock Nelson matched his career-high of three assists on the night, while Semyon Varlamov secured his first shutout of the season with 24 saves.
The Red Wings also enter the meeting on a winning note after picking up a 6-3 victory over Philadelphia on Tuesday night. Jakub Vrana scored twice, while Joe Veleno, Lucas Raymond, Oskar Sundqvist and Tyler Bertuzzi also found the back of the net. Alex Nedeljkovic made 30 saves on 33 shots in the win.
The Islanders have lost both previous meetings against Detroit, including one in overtime and will be looking for their first win of the season series on Thursday night.

• With the win, the Islanders improved to 6-1-1 in their last eight games.
• Mayfield tallied his third goal of the season and is now just one point shy of matching his career high of 19 points (4G, 15A), which he accomplished in 79 games during the 2018-19 season. • Parise, who inked a one-year contract extension on Monday afternoon, buried his ninth goal of the season and now has 25 points (9G, 16A) through 61 games.
• Nelson overtook the Islanders' scoring lead with his 42nd point of the season on Tuesday. He is also atop the Isles' leaderboard in goals with 27. His three assists matched a career-high and the veteran centerman has posted two three-point outings in his last three games.
• Varlamov made his 20th start of the season and improved his record to 6-12-2. The veteran is also 3-0-1 in his last three starts.

Ross Johnston drew in the lineup in place of Kieffer Bellows. Johnston skated alongside Casey Cizikas and Matt Martin. The winger logged 8:30 of ice time, threw four hits and had one shot.
Andy Greene drew back into the lineup for Sebastian Aho. Greene skated 19:31 with one shot on goal and two blocked shots.

      RED WINGS NOTES:

      • Vrana registered his fourth and fifth goals of the season. The Czech winger has totaled five goals in just seven games this season after missing the majority of the season due to shoulder surgery in October.
      • Veleno notched his seventh goal of the season and now has goals in back-to-back games. The 22-year-old centerman now has 14 points (7G, 7A) through 47 games this season.
      • Raymond tallied his 20th goal of his rookie season, which is tied for second highest among all NHL rookies. The Swedish winger has points in three of his last four games with as many points (2G, 1A) in that span. Through 63 games this season, the 2020 fourth-overall pick is tied for the most points among rookies in the league with 48 (20G, 28A).
      • Sundqvist scored in his debut for the Red Wings, since he was acquired by the team in a trade with St. Louis on Monday. The centerman collected his fifth goal of the season and now has 17 points (5G, 12A) through 42 games.
      • Bertuzzi recorded his 25th goal of the season, which ranks second among the Red Wings. The winger also handed out two assists in his three-point outing. Through 52 games this season, Bertuzzi has as many points (25G, 27A).
