The New York Islanders look to get back in the win column as they open up a six-game homestand at UBS Arena on Thursday night against the Vancouver Canucks.

The Islanders wrapped up a five-game west coast trip (2-2-1) falling 5-3 to the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday night in Denver. The game featured an admirable effort from the Islanders, who didn't back down against the top team in the league. Ryan Pulock scored his first goal of the season, while Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Kyle Palmieri also found the back of the net. Zach Parise handed out two assists and Ilya Sorokin made 39 saves on 43 shots in the loss.
The Canucks enter the matchup coming off a 7-2 defeat to the New Jersey Devils on Monday night. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for the group. Vasily Podkolzin and Tanner Pearson scored Vancouver's two goals, while Jaroslav Halak made 8 saves on 14 shots and Thatcher Demko made 18 saves on 19 shots.
The Islanders and Canucks last met on Feb. 9 in Vancouver, where the Islanders collected a 6-3 win. The victory was buoyed by a five-goal first period.

• Pulock potted his first game of the season and now has six points (1G, 5A) through 25 games.
• Pageau scored his ninth goal of the season and in doing so extended his point streak to three games with four points (1G, 3A) in that span. The centerman has totaled 19 points (9G, 10A) through 48 games this season.
