Rapid Recap: Islanders 6, Canucks 2

The New York Islanders defeated the Vancouver Canucks 6-2 on Tuesday night at Rogers Arena, in an explosive effort with goals from JG Pageau (2G), Mat Barzal (1G, 2A), Casey Cizikas (1G, 1A), Anders Lee and Aatu Raty. Bo Horvat scored both goals for the Vancouver Canucks. Eleven Islanders hit the scoresheet in the victory.
Ilya Sorokin made 24 saves in the win in his 100th NHL appearance.

THE SCORING

First Period
18:23VAN 1, NYI 0 - Oliver Ekman-Larsson takes a shot from the point, which finds Bo Horvat, who redirects the puck into the Islanders net to open the scoring. Brock Boeser picks up the secondary assist.
Second Period
2:26 NYI 1, VAN 1 - Matt Martin carries the puck down the ice, passes to Ross Johnston, who sets up Aaty Raty in front of the net, burying the tying goal.

12:56 NYI 2, VAN 1 PPG - Mat Barzal feeds the puck to Ryan Pulock, who fires a long shot from the blue line, which is initially saved by Spencer Martin. JG Pageau is there to bury up the rebound for the Islanders first lead of the game on the power play.

16:28 NYI 3, VAN 1 - Mat Barzal earns his second point of the night, capitalizing on a turnover, blasting it past Martin to advance the Islanders lead to 3-1.

NYI 3, VAN 2 PPG - Horvat finds the back of the net with a one timer that beats Sorokin, cutting the Islanders lead in half. JT Miller and Quinn Hughes with the assists.
Third Period
1:46 NYI 4, VAN 2 - Brock Nelson intercepts the puck to force a turnover, setting up Anders Lee, who spins and wrists it past Martin to regain the two-goal advantage.

9:44 NYI 5, VAN 2 - Casey Cizikas nets the Islanders fifth goal of the night off a feed from Mat Barzal. Parker Wotherspoon picks up the secondary assist and his first NHL point.

17:51 NYI 6, VAN 2 SHG - JG Pageau ices the game with an empty netter for his second goal of the night. Alexander Romanov and Casey Cizikas pick up the assists.
