It was far from perfect through two periods, but it turned into a blow out in the third, as the New York Islanders scored a 5-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday night - 80s Night - at UBS Arena.
Tied 2-2 entering the third, Brock Nelson and Anthony Beauvillier did their best Tango and Cash impression, scoring 22 seconds apart to break open what was a tightly-contested game. Zach Parise added the second of his two goals to ensure the Flyers did not escape from New York with any points.
Adam Pelech and Zach Parise (PPG) also scored for the Islanders, while Ryan Pulock had four assists. Lukas Sedlak (1G, 1A) and Joel Farabee scored for the Flyers, while Kevin Hayes dished a pair of assists.
With the win, the Islanders extended their winning streak to four games and improved to 13-4-0 in their last 17. The Flyers dropped to 0-7-3 in their last 10 games.

THE SCORING

First Period:
4:33 - NYI 1, PHI 0 - The Islanders draw first blood as Adam Pelech caps some relentless pressure by hammering a feed from Anthony Beauvillier past Felix Sandstrom. The Islanders register four shots and a goal before the Flyers generate a shot on goal.
15:27 - NYI 1, PHI 1 - Lukas Sedlak puts the big chill into UBS Arena, skating to the net touching a Kevin Hayes feed past Semyon Varlamov. Ivan Provorov picks up the secondary assist.

Second Period:
9:28 - PHI 2, NYI 1 - Joel Farabee knocks in a Hayes rebound to give the Flyers the lead. Sedlak picks up the secondary assist.
16:38 -NYI 2, PHI 2 PPG - The Islanders block a Flyers clear and Ryan Pulock feeds Zach Parise down low. Parise cuts across the net and deposits a backhander five-hole.

Third Period:
2:57 - NYI 3, PHI 2 - Brock Nelson scores his team-leading 11th goal of the season and second third period tally in as many nights. Nelson is fed by Pulock and beats Felix Sandstrom far side.
3:19 - NYI 4, PHI 2 - The Islanders force a turnover in the Flyers zone and Pulock threads a pass to Beauvillier in the slot. Beauvillier makes no mistake, beating Sandstrom blocker side for his fifth of the season.
11:57 - NYI 5, PHI 2 PPG - Parise threads the needle over Sandstrom's shoulder for his second power-play goal of the game. Josh Bailey and Pulock pick up the assists.

, Saturday marked the fourth time in Parise's career he's scored two power-play goals in the same game and first time since Jan. 27, 2013.

Ryan Pulock recorded the second four-point game of his career and first since a five-point game (1G, 4A) on Jan. 20, 2018... Oliver Wahlstrom dropped the gloves with Tony DeAngelo for his second fight in the past four games... Alexander Romanov led the Islanders with five hits and eight shot attempts... The Islanders went 2-for-3 on the power play and 2-for-2 on the penalty kill.
