The New York Islanders defeated the Montreal Canadiens 2-1 on Saturday night in front of a home crowd at UBS Arena
Casey Cizikas and Anthony Beauvillier scored for New York early in the first period for a 2-0 advantage, while Nick Suzuki scored for Montreal with 10:04 left in the third period to end Ilya Sorokin's shutout bid. The Islanders outshot the Canadiens 38-23.
With the victory, the Islanders snapped a four-game winless streak, while improving their home record to 13-7-1.

First Period
2:25 - NYI 1, MTL 0 - Casey Cizikas knocks down Noah Dobson's long shot from the point, tipping it past Sam Montembeault to get the Islanders on the board early in the first period. Cal Clutterbuck is credited with the secondary assist.

6:03 - NYI 2, MTL 0 - After a faceoff win by Jean-Gabriel Pageau, Mayfield launches a shot from the point, which is initially saved by Montembeault. Anthony Beauvillier is there to bury the rebound to extend the Islanders lead to 2-0.

9:56 - NYI 2, MTL 1 - Nick Suzuki moves down the slot and shovels a backhand past Sorokin to get the Canadiens on the board in the middle of the third frame, creating a one-goal game. Jonathan Drouin picked up the only assist.

Casey Cizikas has four points (1G, 3A) in his last five outings... The Islanders have killed off 19 straight penalties on home ice, going 2-for-2 on the penalty kill tonight...
