The New York Islanders suffered a 4-0 loss to the New Jersey Devils on Thursday night at Prudential Center.

Ilya Sorokin made 30 saves on 34 shots in the loss for the Islanders, while Mackenzie Blackwood made 42 saves on 42 shots to earn the shutout for the Devils.
The Devils scored at least a goal in each period with a first period shorthanded goal from Janne Kuokkanen, a second period power-play goal from Tomas Tatar and third period even-strength goals from Dawson Mercer and Dougie Hamilton.
THE SCORING:
First Period:
12:12 - NJD 1, NY1 0 - SHG - Janne Kuokkanen put the Devils on the board as he beat Islanders netminder Ilya Sorokin with a shorthanded goal on Jesper Bratt's initial holding the stick penalty. Nico Hischier and P.K. Subban earned assists on Kuokkanen's shorty.
Second Period:
19:10 - NJD 2, NYI 0 - SHG - Tomas Tatar doubled New Jersey's lead up to 2-0 with a power-play goal on Oliver Wahlstrom's tripping penalty. Dougie Hamilton and Pavel Zacha registered assists on the goal.
Third Period:
5:46 - NJD 3, NYI 0 -Dawson Mercer extended New Jersey's lead to 3-0 as he dangled past Ilya Sorokin. Andreas Johnsson recorded the sole assist on the goal.
16:33 - NJD 4, NYI 0 - Dougie Hamilton ripped a one-timer from the right faceoff circle past Ilya Sorokin. Ryan Graves and Jimmy Vesey picked up the assists on Hamilton's goal.
SPECIAL TEAMS:
The Islanders were 0-for-3 on the power play and gave up a shorthanded goal. They were 1-for-2 on the penalty kill.
The Devils were 1-for-2 on the power play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill, where they scored one shorthanded goal.

Ilya Sorokin made his 10th start of the season while his record 5-3-0, marking the first loss the Islanders' netminder had given up since the first two games of the season... Mathew Barzal skated in his 300th-career NHL game, while Andy Greene played in his 999th... After being the only team in the NHL to not relinquish a shorthanded goal against last season, the Islanders gave up their second of just this year's young season…The Islanders are 5-2-2 when scoring first and are 0-2-0 when allowing the opening goal.
