The New York Islanders took home a "big point" on Monday, earning one of two in a 1-0 shootout loss to the Colorado Avalanche at Ball Arena.
It was a goalie duel, as Ilya Sorokin (46 saves) and Alexandar Georgeiv (26 saves) each kept a clean sheet through 65 minutes. Evan Rodrigues scored the lone goal in the shootout.
With the shootout loss, the Islanders have taken points in three of their four games on the trip (1-1-2). The shutout loss was the Islanders' fourth this season and the first time they'd lost 1-0 in a shootout since April 22, 2021 vs Washington.
