As the Flames wrapped up their 2022 development camp, the coaches and support staff handed out two awards, which are given annually to prospects who have exemplified hard work, leadership skills, and a dedication to health and fitness:

Awards were handed out to the week's top performers

Hardest Working Flame - Lucas Ciona

Since being drafted in the sixth round of the 2021 NHL Draft, Lucas Ciona has been praised by scouts, coaches, and teammates for his unwavering work ethic and dedication to his craft. The Seattle Thunderbirds forward took a big step in his development over the course of the 2021-22 season, setting new career highs with 17 goals and 35 points in 53 regular season games and nine goals and 14 points in 24 playoff dates. At 6-foot-2 and 205-pounds, he plays a physical brand of hockey and will never hestiate to battle along the boards or in front of the net.

Fittest Flame - Topi Ronni

The Finnish forward's first development camp with the club was an impressive one, turning heads both on the ice and in the gym. Ronni, the Flames' second round pick in this year's draft, was tabbed as the fittest Flame after going through testing and his on-ice sessions this past week. Ronni is coming off a 2021-22 season that saw him play a lot of hockey, including stints with the Finnish U18 team at both the U18 World Championship and Hlinka Gretzky Cup, time with Tappara's men's team (19 games), and stints with Tappara's U20 squad (30 games). After camp, he will be heading back to Finland to participate in their World Junior Championship evaluation camp for the 2022 tournament.
