It was an absolute steamrolling.
(Jacob) Markstrom the Magician pulled another shutout from his pads - his fourth of the season, a personal career high for a single campaign - as the Flames beat the Rangers 6-0 at the Scotiabank Saddledome Saturday night in front of a boisterous crowd.
They were loud, they were proud - and they had plenty of things to cheer about.

Calgary improved to 7-1-3 and have now collected points in 10 straight outings.
The last time the Flames picked up a point in 10 consecutive games was during the 2017-18 season.
The Rangers, who were coming off 6-5 OT loss to the Oilers 24 hours earlier, fell to 6-3-3.
Johnny Gaudreau scored a pair, while Sean Monahan, Milan Lucic, Matthew Tkachuk and Brad Richardson - with his first as a Flame - also tallied for the homeside.
With his first goal, Gaudreau passed Gary Roberts for ninth spot in franchise scoring (506 points).
Tkachuk collected three helpers in the win. His goal was an absolute thing of beauty, taking the pass, spinning and putting his stick between his leg and firing the puck home. See below for a looksie.
The Flames kept true to their season-long MO, outshooting the opposition to start the game with a 5-0 edge before the Rangers finally recorded their first 6:42 into the contest.
The teams went back-and-forth with scoring opportunities early, Markstrom making a phenomenal stop on Kevin Rooney's tip from right in the blue paint.
The Flames opened the scoring at the 16-minute mark on the powerplay when Elias Lindholm whipped a pass to Tkachuk, who sent it back across the ice to Monahan who one-timed it into an open cage as Igor Shesterkin slid across late with his glove-hand stretched out in vain.
Lindholm now has points in four straight games and has recorded at least one point in every game this season except for the team's win over the Devils in Newark on Oct. 28.

With just under two minutes to play, Rangers blueliner Adam Fox appeared to have tied it up after skating in alone from the point and putting a backhand through a crowd that beat Markstrom.
Fox - a former Flames draft pick who was traded away as part of the Lindholm/Hanifin deal and never signed in Calgary - was roundly booed all night.
However, the Flames challenged citing the play was offside and after review, the officials agreed.
Gaudreau had a partial breakaway on his off-wing early in the second period but couldn't get a shot on net, with Lindholm being blanked by Shesterkin right after.
At the other end, Markstrom came up big on a 3-on-2, stopping Chris Kreider - who came into the game with eight goals in 11 outings - at point blank range in the slot.
Richardson made it 2-0 just eight seconds after the Flames second powerplay of the night ended. Oliver Kylington's point blast missed the net but the rebound shot out to the forward who just beat the tip of Shesterkin's left skate to put it home.

The assist extended Kylington's point streak to six games (1g, 6a).
Just 2:04 later, Gaudreau was, well, Johnny on the spot to poke home a puck sitting in the crease as Tkachuk battled with three Rangers, collecting his third of the season.

The Flames went to their third powerplay of the game when Ryan Reaves was given two minutes for an illegal hit to the head on Andrew Mangiapane, leading to a scrum where Erik Gudbranson dropped the mitts for a fight with New York's Jarred Tinordi.
Gaudreau scored his second of the tilt at 6:42 of the third when he cut in and slid a backhand shortside past Shesterkin.

Lucic fired a shot hit gloveside to make it 5-0 ...

... and then Tkachuk rounded out the scoring with his beauty.

With his goal, Monahan (205 goals) tied Eric Vail(1973-74 - 1981-82) for the eighth most goals in Flames franchise history ... Gaudreau has enjoyed playing the Rangers in his career with a point-per-game average against them. Heading into Saturday night's tilt, he had six goals and six assists for 12 points in as many games against New York after picking up an assist in the first meeting this season between the two teams ... MATTHEW TKACHUK ON INCREDIBLE CROWD:
"I thought the atmosphere was great. I don't know if it had to a lot to do with the boos on the other side, but just in general, they were great for us. They were very into it. When they're into it like that, it seems to give us tons of momentum and we can build off them. Momentum is so big, obviously, in these games and we know when we go into other buildings, myself and Marky know which buildings are loud and are tough buildings (to play in). And this one was tough to play in tonight, I'm sure you can ask them other side. It was awesome."
ON HIS BETWEEN-THE-LEGS GOAL:
"I wasn't really thinking there. Just happened. I was just in an awkward position backing up into the goalie, couldn't really stop my momentum. Thought that was the best way to go about it. I don't know. Still fun to see it go in the net."
