Ten games will be played in Alberta between Scotia Place in Calgary and Rogers Place in Edmonton. Seven games will be play at Scotia Place and three games will be played at Rogers Place.

The 2028 World Cup of Hockey schedule in Alberta will include games in both Calgary and Edmonton. Calgary will host six round robin games and one elimination game at Scotia Place. Edmonton will host two semifinal games and the championship game.

What is role of NHL and NHL PA for the 2028 World Cup of Hockey?

The National Hockey League and the National Hockey League Players' Association jointly organize and oversee the 2028 World Cup of Hockey. Together, the NHL and NHLPA are responsible for the tournament’s overall structure and operations, including competition format, scheduling, participating teams and players, commercial rights, sponsorship, broadcasting, and ticketing. They also lead the global promotion and management of the event. Host cities and venues, including Calgary and Edmonton, work closely with the NHL and NHLPA to support event delivery, venue operations, and the local fan experience during the tournament.

How much funding was provided from the municipal, provincial and federal governments and what will the funding be used for?

The total funding for the event is competitively sensitive information. This event will    deliver approximately $350 million in economic impact to the Alberta economy –       making it one of the largest events ever hosted in the province.

Is the 2028 World Cup of Hockey taking place at Scotia Place?

Yes, games hosted in Calgary will be held at the new heart of entertainment in Calgary, Scotia Place located in the Culture + Entertainment District at Stampede Park.

When will Scotia Place open? Will it be ready on time?

The arena development project is on track for completion by summer 2027 and will be ready for the 2027-28 Calgary Flames season.
