The Flames will host the Vancouver Canucks in pre-season action on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. MT.

Calgary dropped their first two exhibition games, falling to the Edmonton Oilers 5-4 at the Scotiabank Saddledome and 5-2 at Rogers Place on Monday.

Forwards Micheal Ferland and Johnny Gaudreau and defenceman Michael Stone lead the Flames in scoring in the pre-season with two points each. Captain Mark Giordano leads the team with six shots.

Calgary utilized four goaltenders in their opening pre-season games, with veterans Mike Smith and Eddie Lack and prospects Jon Gillies and David Rittich each playing half of a game.

The Flames head into Wednesday's game with a trimmed-down training camp roster after reassigning or releasing 21 players on Tuesday. Five goaltenders, 14 defencemen and 28 forwards remain at camp.

The Canucks have a hectic pre-season schedule, with half of their roster overseas for the NHL China series. The roster heading to Calgary likely includes former first round picks Brock Boeser, Jake Virtanen, Nikolay Goldobin, and Olli Juolevi. In net, Thatcher Demko and Richard Bachman are the predicted duo.

The Canucks are 1-1-0 in their first two exhibition games, picking up a 4-3 overtime win over the LA Kings on Saturday and dropping a 9-4 decision to the Las Vegas Golden Knights on Sunday.

Boeser leads the Canucks with three goals and five points in two games.
