Trevor Zegras scored a highlight-reel-worthy goal, but the Ducks could not extend their point streak to a season-best six games, tonight falling 5-2 to the Seattle Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena.

The loss snapped Anaheim's five-game point streak (4-0-1) and dropped the club to 21-35-8 on the season.
Zegras tallied his team-leading 21st goal of the season in the first minute of the second period, scoring from between the legs after a pass from linemate Ryan Strome.

Max Comtois also scored for Anaheim. Strome, Scott Harrington, Cam Fowler and Jakob Silfverberg added assists.
Jamie Oleksiak, Jared McCann, Daniel Sprong, Eeli Tolvanen and Jaden Schwartz scored for the Kraken, who won their fifth straight game and improved to 37-21-6 on the season. Philipp Grubauer earned the win in net with 20 saves.
Seattle led 2-0 after a strong opening period on home ice, first taking the lead less than five minutes in on a Ducks defensive zone breakdown. Just seconds after a near miss on the doorstep by NHL rookie scoring leader Matty Beniers, Oleksiak found some open space in the slot as the Ducks tried to recover defensively. Former Oiler winger Jordan Eberle provided the setup pass from down low, which Oleksiak got rid of quickly to solve Gibson in tight.
Oleksiak's goal, his career-best ninth of the season, also set a new personal-high in points (9-9=18). Originally a first-round pick by Dallas in 2011, Oleksiak is now two appearances shy of 500 in the NHL.
Eberle, once drafted himself with the pick Anaheim traded in a package to land Chris Pronger from Edmonton, has four points in his last four games and leads Seattle with 51 points on the season. His 37 assists on the season are his most since the 2014-15 campaign.
McCann put the hosts up two just past the midway point of the period, showing exactly why he has a career-high 31 goals with an absolute laser of a shot past Gibson.
The Kraken hit the blue line with speed, as the Ducks were able to knock down a pass by Beniers, but defenseman Adam Larsson collected the bouncing puck and tapped it McCann drifting down left wing. McCann then had time and picked his spot perfectly, beating Gibson over the shoulder to the short side to put Anaheim in a 2-0 hole.
McCann is the first 30-goal scorer in Kraken history, now with 31 on the season. With two points on the night, McCann matched his career high and became the first player with two 50-point seasons for Seattle and the first to record 100 points total as a member of the Kraken.
Beniers leads NHL rookies in scoring, the lone first-year player to outpace Mason McTavish so far offensively. The former Michigan Wolverine has 11 points in his last 10 games and owns seven points in three career matchups against the Ducks.
Anaheim got back within one in the opening minute of the middle frame on the type of goal just not many players can pull off. As Zegras raced down the middle of the ice, Strome lead him with a pass towards the net from right wing. Zegras then caught the pass in stride, pulled it between his legs and lifted a shot from behind his left skate past Grubauer for the latest in a short career full of jaw-dropping moments.

"Oh my goodness, he's done it again!" ESPN's John Buccigross immediately exclaimed on the play-by-play call.

"We gave up too much time and space and let an elite player make an elite play," Seattle coach Dave Hakstol told Linda Cohn during an in-game interview.
Zegras has four points in his last three games (2-2=4). He leads the Ducks in points, goals, and assists this season.
With an assist, Harrington recorded his first point as a Duck.
Unfortunately for the Ducks, that would be as close as they would come on this night, as a tough break for the usually unflappable Gibson would restore the Seattle lead. Sprong, a former Duck winger, fired a hard wrister from a sharp angle on left wing and Gibson answered with the glove, but couldn't squeeze the rebound, instead having it pop out of his mitt and roll over the goal line for a hard-luck goal.
Sprong played 55 games for Anaheim across two seasons (2018-20). He's already set career-highs in goals, assists, points, power-play points and power-play goals this season.
Tolvanen delivered a third-period insurance marker on the power play to all but eliminate any comeback chance for Anaheim, hammering a one-timer from the circle that looked quite familiar to a few goals McTavish has scored lately.
Claimed on waivers from Nashville earlier this season, Tolvanen has 11-10=21 points in 30 games since joining Seattle.
Comtois temporarily made it a two-goal game again with less than two minutes to play, finishing off a nice backdoor pass from Silverberg along the goal line.

Silfverberg has points in five of his last six games.
It would be far too little too late for the visitors though, as Schwartz hit the empty net just moments later to seal Seattle's 5-2 win.
The Ducks continue their three-game road trip Wednesday night in Vancouver.
