The Ducks have signed defenseman Tristan Luneau to a six-year contract beginning in the 2027-28 season through the 2032-33 campaign.

Luneau, 22 (1/12/04), has appeared in 14 career NHL games with Anaheim, posting 2-2=4 points. He scored the game-tying goal in his season debut last season (April 16, 2026 at Nashville), his lone contest with the Ducks in 2025-26. He made his NHL debut with Anaheim in 2023-24, appearing in seven games (1-2=3 points). He became the fifth-youngest Ducks defenseman to score a goal Nov. 30, 2023 vs. Washington (1-1=2) at 19 years, 322 days as part of a multi-point game (1-1=2).

"Signing Tristan to a long-term contract was a priority as we see him as a top-four defenseman for years to come,” said Ducks General Manager Pat Verbeek. “Getting the deal done before the season started was a key part of our planning for now and the future."

Selected by Anaheim in the second round (53rd overall) of the 2022 NHL Draft, Luneau has registered 19-76=95 points with 52 PIM in 135 career AHL games with San Diego. Among all AHL defensemen the past two seasons, he ranked third in points (19-74=93), fourth in assists and sixth in goals.

The 6-1, 211-pound defenseman scored 10-31=41 points in 70 games with the San Diego Gulls last season, setting a new single-season high in goals. He led all Gulls blueliners in points, assists and shots (154), and was second in goals, marking his second straight season pacing the club’s defensemen in scoring. Among AHL defensemen, he ranked 11th in points, 12th in goals and 14th in assists, while he led all AHL blueliners with 27 points after the All-Star Break (6-21=27).

Luneau scored 9-43=52 points in 59 games in 2024-25 with San Diego and was named to the AHL All Rookie Team while he led AHL rookies in assists and was sixth among all AHL skaters in helpers. He led the Gulls in points and assists, one of two AHL defensemen to lead a club in points in 2024-25. His .88 points per game was the third-best mark by an AHL rookie defenseman 21 or younger in 30 years (since 1994-95) and his 43 assists were the most by an AHL rookie defenseman since 2015-16 (Brandon Montour, San Diego).

The Victoriaville, Quebec native was named the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) Defenseman of the Year, a CHL Second Team All-Star and QMJHL First Team All-Star in 2022-23 after scoring 20-63=83 points with a +49 rating in 65 games for Gatineau. Luneau collected 36-108=144 points with a +53 rating in 159 career QMJHL games from 2020-23. He was named the QMJHL Rookie of the Year, to the QMJHL All-Rookie Team and the QMJHL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2020-21 after earning 4-14=18 points in 31 games.

Luneau was named to Canada’s 2024 World Junior Championship roster, but did not appear in the tournament due to an infection. He helped Canada to bronze at the 2020 Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne, Switzerland, earning two assists in four tournament games (0-2=2).
