The highlight of the evening was seeing several CHOC Ambassadors and their siblings strut their stuff on the runway outfitted in the latest spring trends from Bloomingdale's. These brave young warriors were accompanied by several Ducks players and their significant others dressed in Ted Baker London, while French and Lozoff shared how CHOC's medical care has impacted each of the patients and their families.
Among those on the catwalk was the 2023 Anaheim Ducks 21st Duck honoree, 11-year old Ethan Baroldi. Diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot with Pulmonary Stenosis when he was younger, Baroldi is thankful for all CHOC has done to help him overcome the blood clotting disorder. The Jr. Ducks player was thrilled to see CHOC and the Ducks join forces to help kids like himself.
"I'm so thankful for CHOC," Baroldi said. "They definitely helped me. And an organization that is my favorite hockey team coming together with one of my favorite hospitals, it's so great," Baroldi said.
Baroldi walked the runway with Ducks forward Trevor Zegras, who was honored to join this year's 21st Duck in support of a great cause.
"I think Ethan brings almost more energy than I do, so it was pretty easy being the sidekick for a little bit," Zegras said. "But again, it feels good to give back, and it's such an honor to be part of this team. This is a great group of guys that I feel are so selfless."
Ducks forward Troy Terry and his wife Dani walked with Baroldi's older sister Ella. With their own first child due this summer, Terry has an even deeper appreciation for CHOC and the impact the hospital's medical care has on the community.
"Of all the things that we're involved in, I think CHOC is number one on my list," Terry said. "Visiting there really gives you a new outlook on life, especially when you're in the grind of the season. Meeting some of these kids really re-centers you as a person."
At the conclusion of the fashion show, guests were treated to an after party with music, food and the chance to purchase wine bottles signed by select Ducks players.
Proceeds from the evening will be used to support the many critical services that CHOC provides to children and families in need of care, ranging from new specialized equipment and technologies to arts and crafts activities for the kids during their stay - all with the goal of defending the magic of childhood.
"Whether it's playing duck-duck-goose or being the 21st Duck, I want our kids to have every opportunity," Dr. Morchi said. "Your support helps fulfill this mission, going towards the development of our new programs and initiatives. Your generosity brings healing and health to our young patients and gets them back to being kids again."
