The Devils prospects returned from Buffalo on Monday and have spent the past few days in Newark with open ice time as well as opportunities to get in the gym, but there was no structured schedule or anything mandatory. They could literally sit in their hotel room and watch Netflix for 48 hours, although I highly doubt any of them did that.

Before leaving Buffalo, I spoke with Blake Coleman and Josh Jacobs about their plans.

I also spoke with assistant general manager Tom Fitzgerald about the bigger picture from rookie camp and the value of having the entire scouting department on hand in Buffalo.

I will have more for you soon on the scouting department and how they're already preparing for the 2017 NHL Draft, but for now, training camp officially starts tomorrow with the veterans reporting for medical testing and the rookies, who already did that prior to rookie camp, joining them for Media Day festivities. We will have lots of coverage for you here on Devils All-Access so check back early (first wave of players report at 8:30am) and often!
