GLENDALE --Looking to bank two more points before heading out on a four-game road trip, the Coyotes settled for one on Saturday night.

Connor McDavid capped a three-point game by scoring the decisive goal at 0:58 of overtime to lead the Edmonton Oilers to a 3-2 victory at Gila River Arena.
"I'm not upset," Coyotes Head Coach Rick Tocchet said. "Edmonton is a desperate team. They've got two of the best players in the world in McDavid and (Leon) Draisaitl, and they're fighting and scratching ... We're fine. We got a point. We're OK."

The Coyotes will depart Arizona on Sunday morning owning the second wildcard spot in the Western Conference standings, two points ahead of Minnesota. Both teams have 10 games left. Arizona's next four games will be played in the Eastern time zone, starting Monday night at Tampa Bay.
Alex Galchenyuk took six shots on goal and scored both of Arizona's goals. With 17, he now leads the team in goal scoring.
"When Alex shoots the puck, he's dangerous," Tocchet said. "He was more aggressive with the puck tonight, and he's got to do that."

• Both teams scored a goal in the first and second periods. Edmonton led 1-0 and 2-1, but couldn't shake the Coyotes. Galchenyuk tallied his first goal from the right circle during a power play in the first, and he notched his second from in close just 12 seconds after Edmonton tallied its second goal.
The Oilers controlled the puck for most of the brief overtime session, and McDavid ended it by swatting the puck past Darcy Kuemper from the low slot.
"They scored and we didn't, it's as simple as that," said Galchenyuk, who is the sixth Coyotes player to have a multi-goal game in Arizona's past 10 games. "(We) can't think too much about this loss. We got the point, stay positive, see what we did wrong and move forward."

Galchenyuk: Coyotes Must Stay Positive Despite Loss

Jakob Chychrun returned to the lineup after serving as a healthy scratch the past two games. He skated 19:10, took six shots on goal, delivered three hits and assisted on Galchenyuk's first goal.
"We had good looks," Chychrun said. "We had guys that were going and making plays. We just couldn't capitalize ... It's tough when you think you have momentum and those two guys (McDavid and Draisaitl) step on the ice and find a way to get it back sometimes."
Oliver Ekman-Larsson agreed.
"I thought their (top) line was the difference," Ekman-Larsson said. "McDavid's probably the best player in the League right now. I thought they had an unbelievable game."
