GLENDALE -- Defenseman Jordan Gross scored a goal at 1:25 of overtime on Friday night to lead Team White to a 2-1 victory over Team Red in the Coyotes Prospect Development Camp scrimmage at Gila River Arena.
Neither team scored in the first period as goalies Erik Kallgren and Merrick Madsen flashed their skills in the nets.

Tied 0-0, forward Max Gerlach roofed a rebound from the low slot to give Team Red a 1-0 advantage with 7:51 left in the second period. That lead lasted until defenseman Cam Dineen pulled Team White into a 1-1 tie when he converted a nifty backhanded pass from Mika Cyr into a goal with 3:17 left in the second.
Goalies Ivan Prosvetov and Nick Donofrio then starred in the third period, and the overtime session, which would have been played for fun regardless of the score, was needed to decide the game's outcome.

First-round draft pick Barrett Hayton, playing for Team Red, nearly ended the game early in the overtime, but his shot from the left wing banged off the near post.
Moments later, Gross, a four-year player at Notre Dame, gathered the puck near the red line, skated it into Team Red's zone and then ended the game with a wrist shot over Donofrio's glove from the left circle.

More than 1,500 spectators attended the game, which served as the finale of the weeklong camp.
"It was fun to jump on the ice and see that many fans in the stands," said Pierre-Olivier Joseph, a Team Red defenseman. "I know it's a Friday night and it's hot outside, but we thank them for coming tonight. It's pretty hard to come in mid-summer to play hockey, and I think both teams played pretty well. It's the first week we've played together and it was hard to know some people, but I think it was a pretty good game in general."

Kevin Bahl, a Team White defenseman, agreed.
"It was really fun, especially after working the whole week," Bahl said. "We all worked our butt off. It just came down to this moment, and it was a fun experience with the fans out there and playing in front of them."
