Mario Kempe notched a goal and an assist for Arizona in a 4-2 loss to Calgary on Friday night in a preseason game at Scotiabank Saddledome.
Kempe, a Swedish forward who notched 83 points in the KHL over the past three seasons, scored a power-play goal at 9:15 of the first period to give the Coyotes at 1-0 lead.

Trailing 4-1 in the third period, defenseman Dysin Mayo scored for Arizona, which fired 17 shots on former Coyotes netminder Mike Smith, who played the entire game for the Flames.
Defenseman Adam Clendening notched the primary assist on both of Arizona's goals.

Coyotes goalie Louis Domingue stopped 16 of 19 shots faced over the first two periods. Adin Hill tended goal for Arizona in the third period and stopped 15 of 16 shots.
Johnny Gaudreau scored two goals for Calgary, and Sam Bennett tallied three assists.
The Coyotes will play their third preseason game on Saturday night vs. the San Jose Sharks at Gila River Arena. The puck drops at 6 p.m. Arizona time.
