Dating back to December 31, 2019, the Coyotes boast a 11-2-4 home record. They have lost only twice in regulation and have earned points in 15 of those 17 games.
The Coyotes' 26 home points earned in that span are the third-most in the NHL.
"We want this rink to be a tough place to play for other teams," said Christian Dvorak, who scored the first of Arizona's five goals in Friday's win.
"We need to establish an identity here," Dvorak said. "And I think we're doing that. Last year, I thought we did pretty good here at home, and we've had a pretty good start here this year as well. We want to be a tough team to play against, especially here, and hopefully we can establish that throughout the whole season."
Head coach Rick Tocchet said: "The home thing, it's the focus level. We talked about that over the past couple years. (We didn't have) the greatest home record here over the last bunch of years.
"We said that if we wanted to make hay in this division, we had to win more home games. And I think we've done that. Having 2,500 people (in the stands this year) -- I think the players are enjoying that too, So that helps. We can feed off the crowd."
There might be no one who loves playing at Gila River Arena more than Conor Garland, who has six points (2G, 4A) in the Coyotes' three 2021 home games. Garland has scored 24 of his previous 27 regular season points at Gila River Arena.
