GLENDALE --The Coyotes and Associate Coach Jim Playfair have mutually agreed to part ways, the team announced on Tuesday.
Playfair spent six seasons on the coaching staff under Head Coach Dave Tippett, who left the team last week. Assistant Coach Newell Brown left the team earlier this off-season.

"I would like to thank Jim for everything he did for the Coyotes organization the past six years," General Manager John Chayka said. "This was a mutual decision and we wish Jim all the best in the future. We will now focus on finding a new coaching staff to lead our team next season."
Asked what he's looking for in a new head coach, Chayka said:
"We're looking for the personality of someone who wants to take on a challenge and overcome a challenge and for an optimist who sees a glass half full. I think there's a lot of positive, great things going on with our organization."
