GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Arizona Coyotes General Manager Bill Armstrong announced today that the club has signed Matt Perri as the team's new Director of Analytics and Lee Stempniak as the club's new Hockey Data Strategist. As per club policy, terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

Perri joins the Coyotes from Sportlogiq in Montreal, Quebec where he served as the company's Sr. Director of Hockey and Pro Services. In this role, he worked directly with NHL, AHL, SHL and CHL teams, providing insight and clarity to the cutting edge of hockey analytics, translating numbers into hockey-speak and turning raw data into actionable reports.
The Edmonton, Alberta spent over five years with Sportlogiq after starting in 2015 as a Sports Video Analyst. He also held the roles of Team Leader - Sports Analytics & Services, Hockey Account Manager and Director of Hockey Operations.
In his role with the Coyotes, Perri will lead the analytics department in providing actionable analysis to the coaching and scouting staffs as well as supporting management with player personnel decisions.
The 37-year-old Stempniak returns to the organization following a distinguished NHL playing career that spanned 14 seasons and 10 different teams including the Coyotes from 2009-11. A former NCAA Academic All-American at Dartmouth College, Stempniak was an economics major and will combine his vast hockey experience and education to assist in the communication between the club's analytics department with coaches, players, and management.
The newly created position is another hire to push the boundaries and build an organization on the cutting edge as Stempniak is believed to be the first former player to fill this position with an NHL club. Stempniak will serve as a liaison between the Coyotes hockey operations/analytics department and the team's coaching staff.
Stempniak registered 203-266-469 in 911 career NHL games with the Coyotes, St. Louis Blues, Calgary Flames, Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins, Carolina Hurricanes, Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Rangers, Winnipeg Jets and New Jersey Devils. He tallied 33-23-56 in 100 games with the Coyotes from 2010-11.
