Following the on-ice session, forward Tyler Toffoli and defenseman Shea Weber spoke with reporters via Zoom.
They were followed by interim head coach Dominique Ducharme.
Here are a few highlights from their respective chats:
Toffoli on the Canadiens' confidence level after winning four straight games:
I don't think we ever really lost confidence in our group. I think people have been doubting us all season long. Sure, we might have snuck into the playoffs, so to speak, but we've had times during the season where we were probably one of the best teams in the League. We're a confident group. We're a pretty close group, too. We're excited for Game 2 and we've just got to keep playing the way we're playing, executing, and just playing the tight playoff hockey that we're good at.

Tyler Toffoli on the team's resiliency

Toffoli on the Habs' level of anger about losing forward Jake Evans, who suffered a concussion late in the series-opener after being hit by Jets forward Mark Scheifele:
We lost a player in Jake who has been playing really good hockey, probably his best hockey of the season. It's tough losing him, but I don't really want to talk too much about it. I think the team has kind of said that we're moving past it. What happened, happened. It sucks. We've got to move forward and focus on tonight.

Weber on the four-game suspension assessed to Scheifele for charging:
We're done talking about the hit. We're missing a player and they're missing a player. On to Game 2 here and getting going tonight.

Shea Weber on Corey Perry's net front presence

Weber on Evans still being involved with the group, even though he's injured:
He's always a part of the team. It doesn't matter if guys get hurt. Everyone knows that. It's tough when you are hurt. You might feel separated. But, he's still here with us and he's going to continue to be a huge part of our team.

Ducharme on building off the success of the series against the Maple Leafs:
Over the course of a series, you need to be able to build a rhythm. That's what we did versus Toronto, especially starting with Game 5. Our goal tonight is to be better than Game 1. We did a lot of things right and we want to improve certain areas. That's what we want to focus on.

Ducharme on Mark Scheifele's suspension

Ducharme on the Scheifele suspension:
We accept the decision. They made their decision and we're fine with it. We're preparing for tonight. We did good things in Game 1, but we want to be better tonight. We don't control the rest.
