Numbers Game

EDMONTON - Here's a numerical look at Tuesday night's game between the Canadiens and the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place.

2 - Number of Edmonton natives in the Canadiens' lineup on Tuesday night, including assistant captain Brendan Gallagher and defenseman David Schlemko, both of whom were born in the City of Champions. No doubt suiting up in front of friends and family made the tilt extra special for the pair, as Claude Julien's contingent made its lone regular season visit to the Alberta capital. It was the 399th game of Schlemko's career.
2 - Number of times so far this season that goaltender Antti Niemi has started back-to-back games for the Canadiens, as Julien elected to feature the 35-year-old Finn in between the pipes on Tuesday night to begin the three-game Western Canada road trip. Niemi, who backstopped the Canadiens to a win over the Vegas Golden Knights last Saturday night at the Bell Centre, previously made consecutive starts in mid-October.
7- Max Domi extended his points streak to seven straight games during the first period on Tuesday night by scoring his 10th goal of the 2018-19 campaign. Domi, who tied things up 1-1 with his tally on Oilers starter Mikko Koskinen at the 5:45 mark, became the first Habs player to hit double-digits in the goal-scoring department so far this year.

MTL@EDM: Domi picks the corner from the circle

0 - Number of teams against whom Domi has scored more goals than the Oilers courtesy of that impressive snipe. The 23-year-old centerman has seven career goals in 13 games against Edmonton. Domi has scored against the Buffalo Sabres on six occasions.
3 - With an assist on Domi's goal, Andrew Shaw upped his own points streak to three consecutive games as he continues to chip in offensively. Following a slow start, Shaw has clearly hit his stride and is in fine form. He then added a goal early in the second period, lighting the lamp for a third consecutive game as well. That evened things up 2-2.

13 - Jeff Petry picked up his team-leading 13th assist of the season on Shaw's goal. It was the secondary helper on the play. Jonathan Drouin collected the primary assist, feeding Shaw from behind the net for his fifth tally of the year - every single one of which has been an equalizer.
3 - Number of tremendous stops Niemi made during the second period alone on Tuesday night, denying Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Leon Draisaitl and Ryan Strome from scoring and holding the Oilers to a 3-2 advantage through 40 minutes of play.
