MONTREAL - Brendan Gallagher and Jake Evans are not goaltenders, but the pair were screened like the best of them on Thursday at the Bell Centre.

The Habs were hosting the 14th edition of the team's RadioTéléDON during the game against the New York Rangers, raising funds to support the Montreal Canadiens Children's Foundation's goal of getting underprivileged youth active. With several players currently sidelined to injury, this year's event had the unique opportunity to get an assist from some familiar faces.
During a live stream on
Twitch
, Gallagher and Evans popped by the temporary call center set up at ice level to dial donors and thank them for their contributions. Or rather, tried to.
The Canadiens forwards were call screened by their would-be contacts, getting sent straight to voicemail again and again while fans cheered on their efforts live in the chat. This is probably why the boys do group texts and not group calls.
It was Evans who finally broke the deadlock, getting through to Habs fan Peggy for an adorable call - the latter only realizing who she was speaking to midway through the chat. Watch the full segment, including a ladder mishap, below. Ah, the magic of live viewing!

With the monkey off their backs, the pair made a couple more connections during the event which has raised over $200,000 so far to remove barriers to play.
