I want to thank Max Pacioretty for the 10 years he gave the Montreal Canadiens. We wish him the best in Las Vegas.
Both parties agreed it was the best thing for him to move on.
Last season, he asked for a trade. I won't go into details, but that's a fact.
On choosing a new captain:
[The trade] happened late last night. We'll sit down as a group, with Claude, and discuss. But right now, we don't have a timeframe.
Geoff Molson
There are always moments on a team when changes need to be made. Throughout hockey's history, stars have gotten traded all over the place. From time to time, there's a window or a situation where it's the right moment to make a trade, and I think that was the case with Max.
It was clear, and we agreed that it was the best thing for him and for the team.
Today, we're here, we've made a trade. We're turning the page, and we wish Max nothing but the best in his next steps.
Claude Julien
We lost a good player, but that's hockey. For me, what's important is to look at what's in front of me. A guy like [Tomas] Tatar, [Nick] Suzuki - who's a former first-round pick - we're adding young players to our lineup and we wanted to get younger. My job is to manage and develop these young players.
There will be some good competition at training camp. The summer was long; I'm excited to get going. We did a lot of work this summer. We want to start off on the right foot.
Carey Price
On his mindset heading into the season:
I'm in a great state of mind right now. I feel good. I worked hard this summer, I feel prepared. It's just business as usual for me. I'm going to get through training camp, just trying to make all the right progressions as we go through, and see where it goes. I'm very optimistic.
On the billboard made for him by a fan:
It's great. I really appreciate that. We're going to do something later with that. It was pretty cool. It's definitely a good feeling.
