MONTREAL – The Sabres struck early, but the Habs struck often and defeated Buffalo 6-2 to take a 2-1 series lead on Sunday night at the Bell Centre.

Tage Thompson got the Sabres on the board before the game’s first minute was through, but Montreal responded with four straight goals in under 17 minutes to take a commanding lead and never looked back.

Former captain Kirk Muller had the honor of carrying the torch into the building for the game.
