Need to Know: Bruins vs. Wild

BOSTON - The Bruins (3-2-0) wrap up a brief two-game homestand Tuesday night with a tilt against the Minnesota Wild (3-2-1) at TD Garden.
Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. on NESN and 98.5 The Sports Hub.

What to Watch For

Getting back on track will be the focus for the Bruins, who fell to the Montreal Canadiens Saturday night at TD Garden. But there could be a number of moving parts, particularly between the pipes.
Tuukka Rask is still considered day-to-day by B's coach Claude Julien and did not practice Monday after missing the Montreal game. Anton Khudobin started in his place Saturday, but the backup appeared to have injured himself in Monday morning's practice and left early in the session.
Malcolm Subban, who was called up from the Providence Bruins on an emergency basis earlier in the day, was the lone goalie for much of the practice.
"This is hockey. We deal with it on a day-to-day basis with injuries and you wait for the news and you go about doing your job as required," said Julien. "If we have to make some adjustments and we have to [change] some personnel, we'll go over that when we have more of an update.
"Same thing with Tuukka…he's still day-to-day, so nothing's changed. I don't know what the situation is for [Minnesota]. I can't give it to you because no decision has been made on him."

On the forward side of things, Ryan Spooner was back at center for Monday's practice after starting the season on the wing on David Krejci's line. Spooner centered Matt Beleskey and Jimmy Hayes during the session and could be in the middle when the puck drops against the Wild.
"This is not about Ryan Spooner not doing the job on the wing," said Julien. "I thought he had a decent game and he did score last game… maybe to create a little more offense there. I think that line's just been flat and we need a little bit more throughout our lineup."
Regardless of where he ends up Tuesday night - and for the long run - Spooner just wants to contribute.
"It doesn't really matter if I play on the left or the right, I just want to go out there and help out," said Spooner. "It was a bit of a surprise today when I came in and he told me I was going to be playing the middle of the ice there, so haven't really been working on my faceoffs a lot but did a little bit of that at the end today and it should be good."

Opposing View

This will be the third game of the Wild's four-game road trip. Minnesota, which sits second in the Central Division with seven points, is coming off a 6-3 loss to the Islanders on Sunday night. Zach Parise scored his first two goals of the season in the defeat (also the 300th and 301st of his career).
The Wild have been getting production from throughout the lineup, with a league-best 15 different players netting goals so far. The Bruins, in comparison, have eight different players with goals.
Minnesota is third in the league on the penalty kill (17 for 18, 94.4%).
Minnesota forward Charlie Coyle hails from Weymouth, Mass., and played collegiately at Boston University. He is second on the team in goals (2) and third in points (2).

Newcomer Eric Staal is off to a good start, with three goals and four points through six games, while stalwarts Ryan Suter (one goal, four assists) and Parise (two goals, four assists) are tied for the team lead with five points apiece.
Defenseman Jared Spurgeon and forward Erik Haula did not practice with the team on Monday at TD Garden. Both are considered day-to-day, according to the Wild's website.

• Julien said that defenseman Adam McQuaid has been cleared to play, but did not confirm the veteran would be back in the lineup Tuesday night. "He was cleared last game, too," said Julien. "Again, I'm not trying to hide anything here. I just haven't made any decisions [for the Minnesota game]. There are a lot of things that are up in the air right now and I've just got to juggle those things and who knows?"
• The Bruins will be celebrating Hockey Fights Cancer Night, presented by Lahey Health, against Minnesota. Season ticket holders have donated seats to current pediatric patients, cancer survivors, and supporters of those affected by cancer.
