BOSTON -Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced today, March 13, the following transactions: assigned forward Peter Cehlarik to Providence; recalled forward Paul Carey and defenseman Connor Clifton from Providence on an emergency basis.

Cehlarik has skated in 20 games with Boston this season, tallying four goals and two assists for six points. He also has appeared in 39 games with Providence this season, producing 10 goals and 19 assists for 29 points.
He appeared in six games with Boston in 2017-18, tallying his first career NHL goal on November 18, 2017 at San Jose. The 23-year-old forward also recorded 11 goals and 12 assists for 23 points in 35 games with Providence. In 37 career NHL games with Boston, Cehlarik has posted five goals and five assists for 10 points, while adding 41 goals and 49 assists for 90 points in 123 career AHL games with Providence.
The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Zilina, Slovakia native was originally selected by Boston in the third round (90th overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
Carey was acquired by the Bruins from Ottawa in exchange for defenseman Cody Goloubef on January 11, 2019. Since arriving in Providence, he leads the team with 14 goals and six assists for 20 points in 21 games. He has also skated in five games with Ottawa this season, as well as 29 games with AHL affiliate Belleville, where he has tallied five goals and 22 assists for 27 points.
Over his six-year NHL career with Ottawa, New York, Washington and Colorado, the 6-foot-1, 200-pound forward has amassed eight goals and eight assists for 16 points in 97 appearances. At the AHL level with Belleville, Hershey, Providence and Lake Erie, the 30-year-old forward has posted 98 goals and 131 assists for 229 points in 337 games.
The Boston, Massachusetts native was originally selected by the Colorado Avalanche in the fifth round (135th overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
Clifton, 23, has skated in nine games with Boston this season, making his NHL debut on November 16 at Dallas. He leads all Providence defensemen in scoring this year with six goals and 21 assists for 27 points with a plus-13 rating in 53 games.
He played in 54 games with the Providence Bruins in 2017-18, tallying four goals and nine assists for 13 points with 35 penalty minutes and a plus-11 rating. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound blueliner ranked fifth on the team in plus/minus and third among the team's defensemen in scoring.
Clifton was originally selected by the Arizona Coyotes in the fifth round (133th overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. The Matawan, New Jersey native was signed by the Bruins to a two-year NHL contract with an annual cap hit of $725,000 this offseason.
