Canucks lead best-of-7 series, 2-1

We have a series.

Brayden Schenn's first career playoff overtime goal, which came 15:06 into the first overtime late Sunday night in Game 3, gave the Blues their first win of the postseason and a chance to even their best-of-7 first-round series with the Vancouver Canucks tonight.

"I jumped on, kind of on the backcheck," Schenn said. "The puck squeaked out to me. Lucky bounce, kind of popped right in the middle there and [Canucks goalie Jacob] Markstrom was playing well, just trying to beat him with a quick shot."

It was a gutsy win for the Blues, who were down 2-0 in the series and had to play Game 3 without Vladimir Tarasenko and Alexander Steen, who were both labeled unfit to play.

Jake Allen made 39 saves to earn the victory in his first Stanley Cup Playoff start since May 7, 2017.

Game 4 is tonight at 9:30 p.m. CT (FSMW, 101 ESPN).

"We know a seven-game series is long and it's not over after two games," Tyler Bozak said. "We needed that one, and they're a great team. They're going to come again hard (Monday) and we've got to be ready for that and have our best, and we expect a really tough, tough game, so we've got to be ready."

The Blues will not skate prior to Game 4, so it's not known whether Tarasenko or Steen will be able to play. Blues Head Coach Craig Berube said Sunday night he had not made a decision on whether Jake Allen will start again Monday. A projected lineup will be available at stlouisblues.com after pregame warm-ups.

THEY SAID IT

"We knew they were going to come. They're the defending Cup champs for a reason. They know what it takes to win and they definitely weren't going to shy away from a fight." - Canucks forward Bo Horvat after Game 3
