BLUES The Blues got goals from six different players to hand the League-leading Nashville Predators a decisive 6-2 loss at Enterprise Center on Friday night.
Pat Maroon and Brayden Schenn dropped the gloves in the opening minutes, providing the energy for a Blues win that seemed destined from the opening period.
"I think it is a statement for us," Ryan O'Reilly said after the win. "When we show up this way, we can beat a really good hockey team."
The win was Craig Berube's first behind the Blues bench.
JETS Winnipeg dropped a 4-2 decision to the Minnesota Wild on Friday night at Xcel Energy Center. Patrik Laine and Nikolaj Ehlers scored to give the Jets a 2-0 lead, but Minnesota scored four unanswered goals in the third period to earn the victory.
It was the Jets third loss in the last four games.
"We kind of let the game get away from us," Jets forward Adam Lowry told NHL.com. "They got a couple of good bounces and that's the difference tonight... we weren't ourselves in the third."
"The sky isn't falling," Jets captain Blake Wheeler said. "On the road, there's going to be some momentum changes. They're probably going to score a goal, more than likely, and we've got to face that adversity and do a little better with that."
THE MATCHUP Saturday's game will be the third meeting between the Blues and Jets this season. Winnipeg has won both contests thus far, most recently with a 5-4 overtime win at Bell MTS Place on Oct. 22.
Since the Jets relocated to Winnipeg, the Blues are 6-5-2 in home games against the Jets.
