BLUES The St. Louis Blues snapped a five-game winless streak (0-3-2) on Tuesday night with a 3-0 shutout against the New Jersey Devils. Ivan Barbashev scored twice, Jaden Schwartz added another and Jordan Binnington recorded his second shutout of the season with 17 saves.
The win kept the Blues in first place in the Central Division.
"No. 1, it feels good to be back in the win column as a team," Binnington said. "I think it's important that we went through that and continued to believe in ourselves and grow and stick to the plan and just stay calm. It's a great 60-minute game by us tonight. Hopefully we can continue that going forward."
"It was good for the confidence," added defenseman Carl Gunnarsson. "It's tough to keep playing well and not getting points, which at this time of year is real important."
The Blues could have Marco Scandella in the lineup on Thursday. Scandella, who was acquired by the Blues in a trade with Montreal on Tuesday, participated in an optional practice with the Blues on Wednesday.
COYOTES Jamie Oleksiak broke a 2-2 tie midway through the third period to give the Dallas Stars a 3-2 win against the Arizona Coyotes, snapping a two-game winning streak for Arizona.
"I thought we had a good pushback in the second half of the first period and had 21 shots in that first period," Coyotes goalie Adin Hill said. "We have to find a way to win the game."
The Coyotes had posted consecutive wins against the Washington Capitals and New York Islanders before Wednesday's loss. Arizona is 4-4-2 in their last 10 games and currently have the second Wild Card spot in the Western Conference with 68 points.
HEAD-TO-HEAD The Blues and Coyotes will meet Thursday for the third and final time in the regular season.
Arizona is 1-0-1 against St. Louis this season.
